CRY!

It was inevitable, really. The Nightbeat mold was released as the first-ever female Transformer toy in Japan, so when they made her into a PVC... the Nightbeat recolor had to follow.

You want to know what's really scary? I think I actually have a non-crappy backstory (read: "justification") for this recolor's existance. As a character in the mythos. And eerily enough, everything I needed pretty much exists in past TF fiction, officially... maybe I'll do it up as a fanfic later.

Let's talk about the painting, shall we?

Bad Moon Yellow really didn't give me the problems it used to, as far as being uneven and blobby. This is good. Partially because her thighs are awful close together (make your own jokes here), and thick paint would have presented trouble down the line.

But the main reason I'm glad the yellow behaved is because painting her head was a royal pain. Black eyes set on an orange face, set in a yellow helmet, with a blue outer helmet to boot. Which was basically the order in which I painted that piece up. A thin brush and an as-steady-as-possible-thanks-to-sleep-deprivation hand was needed to touch up spots where the yellow and orange were a little too thin.

I dunno why I painted her midriff black. I think it was just to break up the large wad of blue that is her torso, but to do so with subtlety. It works, I think.

Oh, the flames. I had to stretch those out a bit, as the character design had shoulder-armor that's considerably longer than the actual toy's. I tried to follow the decals as close as possible. That wasn't toothpick work, oddly enough. I might go back over it later with a toothpick to give it the white outline.

I'm glad there was a plastic "seam" along her shoulder armor. Made a great borderline for the yellow runnerboard paint.

(Man. That pose even works for a female Nightbeat-style character. "Stop! You're under arrest! And I'm gonna look damn good as I drag your butt off!")
