So of course, it had to be true, that when there was a bona-fide new character using the Armada Megatron mold, that my first recolor of the Armada Megatron PVC would have to be of him.
Mind, the other recolors of ths mold are pretty nice too. Galavtron's pretty, and then there's the Japanese contest prize Black Megatron, which I actually like, since much Megazarak here, the black is broken up by other colors. In Black Megs' case, various shades of green. It makes him a lot more interesting.
I get the feeling Black Megatron was a bit of an inspiration for Megazarak's colors. Especially the addition of bright blue.
But Megazarak won out for two reasons. One, he was a new character, which is always good. I'm MUCH more interested in expanding the PVC charcater-base than merely doing alternate versions of the same character.
Two, it gets me a Universe PVC. Of which there sadly aren't many bases for. I mean, it's pretty much Megazarak and evil Perceptor for now, and I lack a spare Perceptor. There are listings for upcoming Universe "Battle in a Box" 2-packs that would indicate Deluxe Prime and Smokescreen are getting the Universe treatment, so yay.
(Except my pewter Deluxe Prime PVC has TWO RIGHT ARMS, hence the lack of Nemesis Prime so far. Dammit.)
Megazarak's got interesting paint applications. They're mainly Armada Megatron's, but the chest is almost but not quite Armada Galvatron's. It's actually quite nice, and helps make him a little more distinct from either of them.
So I didn't wanna paint the darker-metalic parts silver. So I get some Boltgun Metal. Boltgun Metal is pretty much EXACTLY the same color as the pewter paint Takara uses on these things, only shinier. Made it a little difficult to tell what I hadn't covered already. Still, it looks better shiny, plus covered the parts where I wasn't careful with the black since I was gonna repaint over it.
I figured the Warlock Purple was a nice way of representing the light-up portions of his tank turret.
I will, of course, redo his bio card once we have, you know, his actual bio come OTFC.
