Man, Armada Galvatron has a pretty color scheme. Mix the Decepticon purples with a bit of "dead man" white and black, and it's love. It's really a good thing I decided to do Megazarak first, mostly because Galvatron here is... I think he's the first (or possibly second) major foray into paint mixing.
The dark purple came about from a mix of Citadel's Liche Purple and Chaos Black. The blue-gray was Codex Gray mixed with... damn, I wish I'd have taken notes. One of the dark blues. Probably just a dash of Regal Blue.
Mixing paints only confirmed one of the reasons I was reluctant to mix paints in the first place. I now have this decent-sized pot of dark purple I have no real use for, because the process of getting the desired shade was "add a little... little more... little more... okay, need a little more..." until I finally get it to where I want it. It piles up.
The Warlock Purple used on his helmet and such isn't an exact match for the toys', but at that point I kind of didn't care. I wasn't keen on doing more paint-mixing for him, and the Warlock Purple worked well enough.
I was pretty impressed with how nicely the Bubonic Brown matched the copper, however. That was a nice one.
I'm pretty sure Ghostly Grey is a discountinued color. I got it for like half-price. Or maybe they jsut wanted to get rid of it. I don't know. It's not an exact match for the toy's light gray, but I think it looks nice. That hint of blue really works.
I didn't really want to deal with the black scorch-marks. Mostly I wasn't sure how to get them done without just looking like splotches, which I think would just look bad.
I remain cheesed that the Aramda PVCs never came with Mini-Con partner PVCs. I mean, it's not like the line kept scale anyway. I wanted to be able to make Clench and Caliburn and Heavy Barrel (which is what I call the black "Lucky Draw" version of Leader-1). I mean, I suppose I could buy some more MSCF Megatrons at deep discount. It's vaguely tempting.
Very vaguely.
