As soon as I'd finished Black Hole Rescue Ultra Magnus, I figured I might as well go ahead and do up Cyclonus in his black hole colors as well for a nice thematic set. What the hell.
I wonder how exactly they chose the alternate-dimension colors. I mean, they're not negatives/inverses of the originals.
And like Magnus, Cyclonus' new arrangement in the cartoon doesn't follow a straight "all parts this color become this color" arrangement, near as I can tell. I think those raised sections on his forearms are actually dark green in the screen grabs as opposed to the rust-red the head and wing-detail becomes, when they're all the same color normally.
My pewter Cyc PVC's head snapped clean off. I've heard from a couple others theirs did the same thing. Are all pewter Cyclonii doomed to re-enact that scene from "Time Wars"?
I'm really not wild about this one at all. Mainly because of the godsdamned Golden Yellow. Streak, streak, streak. I really hate that paint.
I should probably use some of these spare pewter Overlords and Shutas I have no damn clue what to do with as testbeds for primers or something to apply to the PVCs first, see if they're gonna prevent paint streaking, or melt the plastic or something.
I also didn't really have a deep enough red, or a yellow enough tanny-color. I debated going with Bad Moon Yellow for the face and hands and stuff... but I didn't think there'd be enough contrast. PLus I need the tan for a few other PVCs in the works.
Dammit, where's my Wreck-Gar PVC?!
