This was probably the quickest repaint I've ever done.
For those who don't know, this is based on an actual Takara release. There was a different version of the Wheeljack mold in Diaclone, with a different head. Oddly enough for a line of childrens' toys, it also had a deco based on Marlboro cigarettes, to the point of even having "Marlboor" text slapped all over him.
The Japanese are weird.
At any rate, the guy shows up in the first Dreamwave The War Within mini-series as part of a large crowd of Decepticons, so that works. I figure the whole Marlboro thing is a good enough basis for a character. Okay, he ends up kind of like Wheeljacks's evil twin... but then again, he kind of is anyway.
Like I said, very quick repaint, since I ended up with an extra color SCF Wheeljack after getting the HOC version. This meant large expanses of white that I didn't need to paint over, since the toy is almost entirely the same base as Wheeljack... only a different headsculpt, clear-blue windscreen and differet stickers. Of course, I painted his bits black to make him look less liek Wheeljack's PVC while still being accurate.
I painted the entire front-part of his legs white, rather than just over the green. It just looked... odd, to have white paint and then white smooth plastic. At least this way the whole face is consistant.
The toy also has decals that wrap around the front at outside of his forearms. I was very glad for this. I figure they're supposed to mean his forearms are supposed to be white, not black. Helps differentiate him further.
You can't really see it in the pics, but his feet also have a little extra black on them, as the toy does. He's got a little black line all along his lower portion in car mode, which I took to be those arm-thingies on the model.
Odd that there's two Decepticons based on the Wheeljack model. And depending on what the hell's going down with Energon, we might add one former Decep to that number.
