ROCKMAN SOUNDTRACKS

The RockMan games have always featured great music. Now you can listen to them without having to turn on you game systems.

A great place for reading up on video game soundtracks is Soundtrack Central. There you can get the latest game soundtrack news, read reviews, get some audio samples, and be pointed towards reliable stores that carry or can special order these soundtracks. Remember that GSC is a review site only, you cannot order discs from them.
One important thing to be aware of is the existence of "SM" CDs. These are bootleg CDs made by a Korean company called Son May records. SM discs are pirated works, which means none of the money goes to the people who actually made the music. While the CD content is usually an exact match for the original, the packaging is often lacking in comparison. When looking at RockMan CDs, be sure to look for Capcom's logo... if it's not there, the CD is most likely a SM copy.

ROCKMAN X SOUNDTRACK - SRCL-2828

Ten tunes from the first RockMan X game, rearranged and performed by Capcom Japan's in-house band Alph Lyla. More jazz than rock, but still some good music. Plus a 30-page color booklet full of production sketches and finished art.

    2) Welcome To Mechanical Forest ~Forest Stage~
    3) Take Back The Tower ~Tower Stage~
    4) Night In The White ~Iceberg Stage~
    5) Scrapping Beat ~Factory Stage~
    6) Get Through The Dark ~Tunnel Stage~
    7) Spark And Shadow ~Power Plant Stage~

ROCKMAN KIKKI IPPATSU - SRCL-3127

Buyers be warned; the VAST majority of this CD is Japanese dialogue... only the final track has game music, and those are straight from the NES. A little "radio drama" style story. Largely for completists (or any Mega-fans who understand spoken Japanese).

    TRACK LISTING
    1) "I Want To Go To School"
    2) "Wily's Plot"
    3) "Wait, Roll!"
    4) "Take Down Wily"
    5) "Peaceful Morning"
    6) "Bonus Track: RockMan Countdown 5" (Stage music for KnightMan, ElecMan, CrystalMan, TomahawkMan, RingMan, MetalMan, SkullMan, GyroMan, NapalmMan, and MagnetMan, in that order)

ROCKMAN THE POWER BATTLE SOUNDTRACK - SRCL-3451

The soundtrack to RockMan's first arcade game. Classic stage tunes with a new, fuller orchestration. Plus, super-complete sound effect and voice tracks.

ROCKMAN 2 THE POWER FIGHTERS SOUNDTRACK - VICL-2173

From the Japan-only sequel to the RockMan Power Battle arcade game, plenty of classic stage music numbers given a fuller, upgraded sound. Most of the tracks from the previous arcade soundtrack have been remixed for this CD, some for the better, some not... plus the sound effect track is crunched pretty short. If you can only get one, though, go for this one for its sheer number of tracks.

ROCKMAN BATTLE & CHASE SOUNDTRACK - VICL-60065~6

A two-CD set full of the music from RockMan's racing game. Mostly new tunes, but still the classic RockMan power-rock feel. Only a handful of the tracks are Playstation sound versions, the rest are the original studio cuts before being put through the Playstation's sound software. Which means longer tracks than what you hear in the game, and better quality.

ROCKMAN DASH SOUNDTRACK - CPCA-1003

The tunes from the new 3-D role-playing adventure RockMan DASH. The first RockMan CD printed from Capcom's new Suleputer label. Unfortunately, they couldn't cram all the music from the game into a single CD, much to the regret of Capcom's sound team. But still a good CD with some very memorable tunes.

MARVEL VS. CAPCOM - CLASH OF SUPERHEROES SOUNDTRACK - CPCA-1005

The soundtrack to the smash-hit arcade game which features RockMan as part of the main cast, and Roll as a hidden character. Capcom fans will probably recognize many of the tunes from the Capcom side of the cast. The CD also comes with a special web page and five songs in MIDI format (The themes to Ryu, RockMan, Morrigan, War Machine and the opening demo).
