BAKER STREET
GAZETTE
Welcome visitors! At home on 221b Baker Street
where Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson reside.
The Gazette is a journal devoted to
Sherlockiana. This is the (free) on-line version and this version has
an emphasis on the films and television series/shows of Sherlock Holmes (we
have other versions on other websites). New additions will be added
monthly. Aficionados will find articles, reviews (books/zines/
websites/films), news items, interviews, poetry, fiction, artwork, photos,
plus a recommended list of links. It is one of several print publications
published by Baker Street Publications--Sleuth
Journal, Jack the Ripper
Gazette, etc. The publishing company was founded in January,
1983. These zines are also available (free) on-line. Their locations
will be listed in our links list. The
Gazette (print versions)
has been published irregularly since 1986. The Internet offers
an opportunity to publish it on a regular basis. We welcome Sherlockian
societies to send us information regarding their organizations. We
would also like to receive information from other publishers (both on and
off the net) regarding their Sherlockian publications and from collectors
of Sherlockiana regarding their collections. Experienced and talented amateur
writers & artists are welcome to send submissions. We will
include a variety of articles about Sherlockian interests, a large selection
of reviews, and interviews with writers/ publishers/collectors, etc. Any
style poetry is acceptable. Stories should be set in either Victorian times
or contemporary. No science fiction please. There are no strict
length requirements submissions. Artwork should be in black pen &
ink if send via regular mail. If sent e-mail it can be pen & ink
art that was scanned or computer art (color is okay). Photos of Sherlockian
sites or collections are welcome, too. For further information or
more detailed guidelines contact us at:
zinester@buzzle.com or
zinesterhere@yahoo.com
Otherwise, request our regular mailing address. Enclose
a S.A.S.E. with all inquiries.
There will be new additions monthly. The first selection of submissions
will be from back issues of the
Gazette. Meanwhile, we will be
seeking new submissions on a regular basis. Since this is a small
press publication we only pay in free copies of our print version which is
lengthier than the on-line version. (We originally were a paying market
for non-fiction and artwork despite being a small press publisher.
However, times were tough will the economy for several years and we
quit paying fees. We hope to change back to a paying market sometime
in late 2003.)
NOTE: This site is dedicated in memory of John Bennett Shaw. Without
his assistance as an advisor, putting us in contact with other Sherlockians,
and spreading information about us by word of mouth we would never have
succeeded with Baker Street
Gazette.
