Check
Engine Light
When the CHECK ENGINE light comes on, it usually means
that there is something wrong with the emissions system of the minivan.
The computer is constantly monitoring the engine, transmission, vehicle
speed, air flow, fuel flow and many other parameters while the vehicle
is in operation. If a sensor fails, or a parameter falls out of specification,
then an error code is set in the computer, and the CHECK ENGINE light will
come on. For example, the oxygen sensor (O2 sensor) usually starts to fail
from 60,000-90,000 miles. When it does, the check engine light will come
on and a code 21 will be set. The codes are easy to check and can give
valuable clues as to the nature of the problem. Click the link below see
a listing of the codes and how to check them.
