Saturday, October 12, 2002 The link I promised you...I'm in the process of moving, so things are going to be kind of funky, but you can find me sans pop-ups here for the time being. posted by Brian | 7:03 PMFriday, October 11, 2002 I have had it!Apparently, the powers that be at FortuneCity are trying to limit bandwith to their paying customers, because computer locks up whenever I try to upload files. This will be my last post at this address, however, I will leave the archives here, as well as a link to future posts, which will be posted for the time being on my personal web space provided by my ISP. Since FortuneCity does not want me to post the "old-fashioned" way, I will post this message, along with links to the archives, which will stay. As soon as I get a better alternative, the whole site will move to a full-service provider. However, thank GOD that I am a total geek and I can read code, otherwise I couldn't even upload this message (yes - I had to generate this manually...) posted by Brian | 7:03 PMGwen sighting! The Fox cameras caught the No Doubt lead singer at Edison International, taking in the Angels-Twins game. It appears she's an Angels fan - and therefore, a woman of taste. The Halos are up 1-0 after five as I type this. posted by Brian | 7:03 PMCalling all Windows programmers!I need an explanation. Why does it take just a few seconds (if you have broadband) to download a Microsoft software patch, but seemingly hours for it to "prepare to install?" posted by Brian | 7:03 PMThursday, October 10, 2002 Some female Libertarian candidates in North Carolina have concocted a unique method of political fund-raising. These women have joined together to market a 50's style pinup calendar, with proceeds going to support their campaigns. Ms. Mills was on O'Reilly today, and is quite well spoken, and her web site will fill you in on the fundamentals of libertarianism. Way to go, Rachel Mills! You have become the first, and hopefully not the last Daily Babble Libertarian Site of the Day. As I look further into this site, I notice that one of the participants in this experiment is Tara Sue Grubb, Blogger for Congress, who has been mentioned here and on other pages. posted by Brian | 8:47 PM Wednesday, October 09, 2002 As many of you know, I'm a big fan of Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly. Today on his show The O'Reilly Factor, he was quite critical of the American public since a greater number of us did not watch President Bush's speech on Monday. According to Fox News, the only network to carry the speech, the speech was seen by 17 percent of the American public. O'Reilly said that to NOT view the presidential address was "Un-American."
UPDATE: There is now a final score coming out of Minnesota. The Angels have won this time, beating the Twins 6-3. posted by Brian | 9:12 PMDon't believe everything you read on the NetA Washington State University journalism student got an unexpected lesson in Fisking when she copied material verbatim from a parody Internet site. A portion of the material was incorrectly translated from Spanish to English.
Angels blow chunksActually, it was a pretty good game. The Twins just played better. The Angels are up 4-0 right now. Rock on. posted by Brian | 6:52 PM Tuesday, October 08, 2002 And I thought this stuff was legit!According to the Arizona Republic, some local promoters who sold penis- and breast-enlargement products over the Internet are being sued for $60 million dollars. The reason? Their products don't work. posted by Brian | 9:40 PM Sunday, October 06, 2002 Looking for loveAnna Nicole Smith is looking for a man, and she'll try anything to get one. According to ananova.com, she has joined a dating service, and has already gone out on her first date. I wonder if Sugar Pie goes on these dates? posted by Brian | 7:25 PM Haven't said much about baseball...For those of you not paying attention to the American League Division Series, the Angels eliminated the Yankees 9-5 yesterday. Granted, the Diamondbacks were bounced 6-3 by the Cardinals, but as long as the Yankees don't make it, I really don't care who wins. GO ANGELS! posted by Brian | 7:16 PM JUST A NOTE: RiShawn Biddle has discarded that hideous black background for a much more readable white one. Saves on the old eyes, RiShawn! posted by Brian | 7:09 PMHave blog, will travelI'm really getting tired of these pop-up ads. FortuneCity is getting more aggressive with them, and they are locking up my system when I update my blog. Therefore, I need to find a new host. Unfortunately, I'm broke. I've been trying to avoid Blogspot for a while, but if it comes down to it, that may be the final alternative. I'd really like to go to Moveable Type, as that software appears to be more flexible. I just can't run custom CGI scripts here. If anyone has any ideas, let me know.
I want my own freeway, tooFolks in Indianapolis may be getting new signs in I-465 if David Letterman has his way. The talk-show host has offered to buy the city new signs if Mayor Bart Peterson renames the highway the Dave Letterman Expressway.
