Belum PITC K26
These were pictures taken from Belum PITC compartment K26. A recce trip was organised by Mr Cheaw Hon Ming to survey this area on 31 Mar - 1 Apr 2001. The bird list for this trip (54K MS Word file) was compiled by Kanda Kumar with some additions by Cheaw/Poon. The area will also be the target of an extensive study on flora and fauna by a Harvard University project over the next six years.

Civet cat unknown ID This was a civet cat found at night along the track. It has predominantly black color and Dr Chan Ah Lak and I do not know the exact ID.

Black crested Bulbul Black-crested Bulbuls are common in the forests. They have a melodius call. This bird was videoed near the camp area.
Red-naped Trogon This Red-naped Trogon was found at one of the resting bay along the track. It responded to our calls. An Orange-breasted Trogon was also heard calling from the same area but could not be sighted.
Red-naped Trogon Another pose of the same bird as above. It was hiding in thick bamboo forest most of the time.
Scaly-breasted Bulbul Many Scaly-breasted Bulbuls were seen in several fruiting tress along the track.
