Coast City was a west coast city situated just north of San Francisco. It had a population of around seven million and was famous for its relaxed lifestyle. Coast City was also the main base for Ferris Aircraft and is perhaps more famous for being the hometown of Green Lantern II (Hal Jordan, currently The Spectre II). Tragically Coast City was destroyed by Mongul and Cyborg II in their plan to turn Earth into a new Warworld. The loss of his home city unbalanced Hal Jordan and was part of the path the led to him becoming Parallax.

The remains of the city served as the location for a memorial service to Jordan after he gave his life to save the Earth from the Sun Eater. The land was cleansed and returned to lush paradise by the elemental Swamp Thing II. The sole remaining man made structure in the region is an eternal emerald flame just off the coast that serves as a memorial to the seven million
