Last Updated on Monday, July 01, 2002 CENTRAL CITY Located near the exact centre of the United States Central City grew with the railroads as a stopping off point on the journey to the new West Coast cities. It stands with its sister city, Keystone on either side of a large river. Central City became famous world wide as the home of the second Flash (Barry Allen) and his sidekick Kid Flash (Wally West, currently The Flash III). Their presence drew a number of outlandish and generally harmless villains to the city as a group loosely called the Rogues Gallery. Central City is the site of the Flash Museum which celebrates the life of Barry Allen and all the speedsters. KEYSTONE CITY Keystone is the smaller of the sister cities of Central and Keystone. Both cities are located on opposite banks of the Mississippi River. Central City is in Missouri while Keystone is in Kansas. Keystone was founded shortly after the Louisiana Purchase and grew as a supply hub for prairie settlers. The massive railroads for shipping cattle were soon exploited by heavy industry. Keystone came to prominence as the home of the original Flash . Sometime after he retired the entire city was shifted out of phase with the universe by a trio of villains and spent a number of decades in suspended animation. It was freed by the second Flash teaming up with the original. In the last ten years Keystone has rapidly brought itself up to date and has become home to a third Flash, Wally West, and his wife Linda Park. |
