Powers and Abilities:

Like other New Gods, Barda's strength, speed and stamina are far above normal human standards. Schooled in combat on Apokolips and once leader of the Female Furies, Barda is a warrior of the highest order. In addition. Barda wields the energy-blasting Mega-Rod, fueled by her own force of will.

Background:

First child to one of Darkseid's special breeders, Barda was stolen from her mother and placed into a matrix of generation, prepared to become a powerful warrior. She was born with extreme strength and grew up to an astonishing height, being chosen to lead the Female Furies, one of Apokolips' best combat teams.

However, she made friends and eventually fell in love with Scott Free, who was not happy living in Apokolips, so she helped him to escape, and some time later followed him to earth and married him.

As Scott worked in a circus, she also joined it as 'the strongest woman in the world', but she wanted an ordinary life with her husband and so, they both left to live in a small town, where Scott arranged a shop to work. However, getting rid of their superheroic activities was not so easy, so they finished traveling to New Genesis, where they live nowadays, after her mother joined them.

Although she's very bad-tempered, sometimes she can be very naive, once being fooled into helping as a terrorist against an organization which experimented on animals. As Scott was on a promotional tour, she got into major troubles and finished in jail, hearing there about her husband's supposed death (of course, it wasn't true), but got free some time later with the help of their neighbors to find out Scott was alive.

Aside from her strength, Barda uses a mega-rod, capable of manipulating enormous quantities of energy, and even opening a boom-tube, a gateway through dimensions. It seems that she's the only one able to use the rod without losing her life energy to it.

Following the JLA's defeat of Mageddon, Barda & Orion were released from their service in the JLA by Highfather

Notes:

  • Barda's sentient computer Mother Box may be used to treat injuries. Mother Box will recognize and trust League Members.

  • In her tenure as a league member, there was a consternation between her and Wonder Woman.

  • Barda and Scott Free have spent a great deal of time on Earth. When Scott was a member of the previous League, Barda accompanied him but was never an official member. This is her second run with the team.
