| Chosen by a lost race to be
their champion and cleanse the modern world of evil, Uno went to the city
of Vanity and assumed the name of Dr. Curt Falconer. He fought the
peculiar sort of crime Vanity breeds, and eventually came to the attention
of the Justice League of America. Aztek is a superb athlete and a
first-class thinker as well, in Batman's class in
both of these areas. His helmet further enhances and sharpens his mental
skills. Uno is the latest in a long line of champions of Quetzalcoatl. As his fathers before
him it is Uno´s mission to avert the apocalypse by battling the Shadow
God known as Tezcatlipoca. Centuries ago the Morningstar, a vessel of
Quetzalcoatl, battled and killed Tezcatlipoca who vowed to return and bring
about the apocalypse. The Morningstar later felt corrupted by his own
actions, as he learned the pleasures of the flesh, and committed suicide,
vowing to return when needed. His followers preserved his helmet for the
war ahead and became known as the Q-Society. Over the following centuries
champions were elected to keep the helmet safe and to provide a healthy
vessel for the Morningstar when he returns.
Twenty years ago, Uno´s
father Emilio was sent to Vanity, the prophesied site of Tezcatlipoca´s
return to Earth. Here he fell in love with Miss Rodman. Before long they
had a son, Uno, who was then brought to the South American Andes where he
was raised by the Q-Society. Recently the Q-Society
send Uno to Vanity to prepare for the return of the Shadow God. Aztek´s
first mission; setting up an identity, finding a job and a place to live,
eventually led him to a local bank. As he was waiting in line, the
super-villain known as the Piper suddenly showed up to rob the bank.
Barely had he set foot in the bank, before the self-styled vigilante called
Bloodtype showed up intend on killing the villain. Having been brought up
to respect all life, Uno quickly put on his suit and tried to stop
Bloodtype. Despite Uno´s efforts Bloodtype succeeded and the Piper died.
However, before he died he managed to tell Uno that he was really Dr.
Curtis Falconer and that he was supposed to start a new job at St.
Bartholomew's the same day. Figuring that he wouldn't be needing it
anymore, Uno assumed Curtis´ name and identity as well as took his new
job at St. Batholomew. Aztek recently
gave his life freeing Superman from Mageddon during the
World War III storyline
(JLA #40 - 45), enabling Superman to fight Mageddon long enough for the JLA
& Animal Man to adapt a Paradise Island Purple Ray to spark all human
evolution to at least the level of power of Superman. |
