Citizen Kadabra was born in the 64th century where he was considered a renegade and dangerous insurgent by the totalitarian regime of that time. The central Chronoworks regulated everything, when people ate, when people slept, what they did and what jobs they did. All individuality had been lost. Kadabra escaped to the 20th century with an experimental time machine and set himself up as a stage magician using 64th century technology to simulate magic. However Kadabra (using the stage name Abra Kadabra) was not a pure hearted resistance fighter, rather he was an egocentric sociopath who would have opposed any organization he perceived to be limiting his anarchic freedoms (i.e. legitimate governments, police authorities). The audiences of his shows gave Kadabra a bigger and bigger rush to his ego until the point he was forced to turn to criminal stunts to reach bigger and bigger crowds. This naturally brought him into conflict with the second Flash (Barry Allen). Kadabra's "magic" gave him a dangerous edge over the Flash's normal Rogues Gallery and he often took great pleasure in playing with Allen altering his physical form or making him appear silly.

Barry Allen was arrested for the murder of Professor Zoom and Kadabra tried to use his magic's to manipulate the jury. However Iris Allen come back from the 30th century to reveal his deceptions and managed to prove Barry innocent. After the death of Barry Allen Kadabra tried attacking the third Flash (Wally West) yet was defeated after he was caught in an explosion that left him with massive scarring. He then began a campaign of vengeance against West that was heightened when West traveled after him to the 64th century. In his absence Kadabra had become an icon to a violent sociopathic underground and they temporally made him their leader. The Flash was hard pushed to remove the totalitarian regime and to stop Kadabra from replacing them with his own dictatorship. Afterwards West brought Kadabra back to the 20th century and in a subsequent battle was able to destroy much of the circuitry that gave Kadabra his powers.

The need for revenge became the overriding factor in Kadabra's life and he saw the perfect chance when he learned of West's connection to the Speed Force. West could only return from the rigorous of the Speed Force because his love for Linda Park acted as a beacon light the way. Therefore Kadabra kidnapped Linda Park and used his magic to erase her memory from the world, with nothing to guide him back West was seemingly lost to the Speed Force. However Linda managed to escape Kadabra's stronghold within Hypertime and found herself on an alternate world with an alternate Flash (Walter West). Wally followed Linda's beacon to that world and with Walter battled Kadabra. Kadabra seemingly killed Wally and Linda prompting Walter to come to Earth-Zero and temporally take over as Flash. Meanwhile Wally managed to return and began impersonating Professor Zoom in order to get close to Kadabra. He played with Kadabra's mind to make him doubt if Linda had ever existed at all or if he had just dreamt of making her vanish. In anger Kadabra undid his spell to demonstrate how great he had been - this returned Linda to Earth-Zero and restored everybody's memory of her. Enraged he tried to erase the memory of all speedsters from humanity, but the spell back fired when West reflected it back at Kadabra with mirrors. The result was to leave Kadabra totally unaware of his own identity and a near vegetable.
