| Background: |
| Once an
artifact of an extant alien race survived by a nameless alien Cleric, the
Eradicator was reprogrammed on ancient Krypton by the scientist Kem-L, an
ancestor of Superman who empowered it to cleanse Krypton of all alien
influences. In the reaches of deep space, Superman later encountered the Cleric,
who had departed Krypton with the Eradicator long before that planet's
cataclysmic destruction. In Superman's possession, the Eradicator erected the
Fortress of Solitude and, for a brief time, altered the Man of Steel into an
"ideal" Kryptonian. The Eradicator's programming reconfigured even
further when the psychic wave patterns it shared with the House of El allowed
the Eradicator to assume Kal-El's form after the Man of Steel's
"death" at the hands of Doomsday. Following Superman's return to life,
the still-evolving Eradicator melded its techno-consciousness to the soul of the
dying Dr. David Connor, who now balances his own human consciousness with the
latent directives of the Kryptonian killing machine. |

BIOGRAPHY/PROFILE
| The Eradicator
began life as an inanimate machine, one of the All brought to Krypton by the
Cleric. Kem-L confiscated the device and radically altered its programming.
The thoughts and goals of Kem-L imprinted on the Eradicator transforming it
into a weapon that would protect and preserve the way of Kryptonian life. It
possessed vast capabilities including unlimited information storage, sensory
systems that could sense half way across the galaxy and the ability to
restructure matter at will. Deeming the device too powerful to be left on
Krypton the Cleric took it with him to Warworld. Eventually the Eradicator was passed onto Kal-El the last surviving
Kryptonian and descendant of Kem-L. He used the Eradicator to teleport him
to Earth across a vast interstellar distance. However the Eradicator proved
unstable as it started mutating the DNA of Jimmy Olsen and emitting
intermittent bursts of power. Thinking the Eradicator dangerous Superman hid
it out of the way in the Antarctic. Out of sight the Eradicator build a
massive Fortress in trying to fulfill it program of preserving the Kryptonian
way of life. It intended to turn Earth into a new Krypton, but was defeated
by Superman who hurled it into the Sun. The Eradicator absorbed solar energy
and increased in power a thousand fold. Now taking a humanoid form it
attempted to turn Earth into a new Krypton again before being dissipated by
Superman and Emil Hamilton.
The dormant essence of the Eradicator was awakened by the death of
Superman and reformed its body with material from his tomb. It took the body
to the Fortress of Solitude where it used advanced Kryptonian science akin
to the Birthing Matrix to return Kal-El to life so that he could use him as
a solar energy converter. During this period the Eradicator imprinted the
memories and goals of Superman and started masquerading as one of the four
supermen that appeared after the death of the real Superman. When Superman
returned to battle the Cyborg the Eradicator blocked Kryptonite radiation
that was killing him and altered it polarity restoring Superman to full
power but in the process it rendered itself inert.
The body of the inert Eradicator was studied by STAR labs where it
imprinted the memories of David Conner a scientist who died shortly
afterwards. For a time the Eradicator believed that it was David Conner who
had somehow swapped minds with the Eradicator and joined the team of the
Outsiders. The various memories that the Eradicator had imprinted over the
centuries began to conflict with each other. The Eradicator took his
conflicts to a virtual world within the Phantom Zone where an image of the
Cleric revealed his true origin as one of the All. There he was attacked by
a separate software entity created by Kem-L the two battled and the new
entity absorbed all of the Kryptonian programming from the Eradicator
briefly escaping to our world. Freed of his destructive programming the
Eradicator served with the Superman Rescue Squad.
Recently the main Eradicator program buried in the Fortress of Solitude
has reawakened. It tried to restart its program of transforming Earth, but
was temporally halted by Superman. The humanoid Eradicator (still patterned
after David Conner) came under mental assault by the parent program. The
humanoid Eradicator joined Superman in fighting the attack of Brainiac 13 on
Metropolis. During the course of the battle he sensed the intention of the
other Eradicator to join with the Brainiac Virus. In order to stop him
Eradicator/Conner merged with the Eradicator/program and with the last
efforts of his free will he pulled both Eradicators into inter-galactic
space. |
ABILITIES AND EQUIPMENT
| The powers and
abilities of the Eradicator before it reformed itself into a solid humanoid
body were based around the manipulation of energy and the environment. It's
influence even extended to altering solar spectrum to match that of a red
dwarf. It also displayed the ability to reshape objects and materials into
any form (including high technology) possible. After Superman's death it took on a human form but it's powers were
vastly reduced. The Eradicator can fly, is super strong and can fire
powerful energy blasts. It could also be conjectured that it has other
abilities left over from it's time as an All. |
