Last Updated on Sunday, February 08, 2004 In the recorded history of our universe there are few crimes that have had more repercussions that those committed by Krona. His blue skinned race, the Maltusians, were immortal and scientifically advanced. They probed every area of science and art expect the one taboo laid down by ancient edict. They were restricted by those edicts from viewing the very moment of creation of the universe. In his arrogance Krona stove to break that taboo and constructed a machine to allow him to peer back through the veil that surrounded the origin point. He watched time unwind, galaxies and stars being unborn, until for an instant he saw an image of the hand behind creation and his laboratory exploded. In that instant the beginning of the universe was linked with the end and a billion years worth of entropy swamped into the infant universe. Effectively a billion years of possible history was wiped from the total life span of the universe. The Maltusians were horrified by Krona's actions and banished him as formless energy to forever orbit the outer reaches of the universe. This crime passed into legend and myth for the Maltusians, to the point where doctrine held that his crime had been to unleash evil itself into the universe. Factions of the Maltusians felt compelled to fight this perceived evil and split along ideological lines becoming the Guardians of the Universe and the Controllers. Billions of years later Krona was accidentally released by Green Lantern Alan Scott, but with the help of the Green Lantern Corps he was able to restore Krona to his prison. Krona even once allied himself with the aspect of death called Nekron. Eventually Krona evolved into the entity clled Entropy, he attached the so called New Guardians and split the Green Lantern Corps. It fell to legendary Green Lantern Hal Jordan to unite the Corps and defeat Krona. He reappeared once more and was defeated by the Darkstars before being sucked into a black hole. |
