| Background: |
|
Once Dr. Neal Emerson was a benevolent physician who utilized the
forces of electromagnetism to bring about astonishing cures to illness. When his
psyche split into opposites of good and evil, the latter adopted the identity of
Dr. Polaris, who was driven almost obsessively in a quest for greater and
greater magnetic power. Despite a formidable arsenal of magnetic weapons,
Polaris was repeatedly bested by Green Lantern Hal Jordan, usually when
Emerson's benevolent side regained control. Eventually,
Polaris imbued his own body with electromagnetic abilities. Recently, Polaris
sold Neal Emerson's soul to the demonic entity Neron in exchange for even
greater power and one evil mind. Unfortunately, Neron's work left a void in
Emerson's psyche that an even greater malevolent persona was all too eager to
fill, leaving Dr. Polaris more dangerous than ever. |
