	Powers and Abilities:	While Roy Harper is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant, he excels at archery. His arrows, like Green Arrow's, used to employ a variety of tricks with them, including explosive tipped arrows, arrows with either smoke or knockout gas in them, arrows with nets, or 'arrow lines'. He has never used his arrows to kill his opponents.

Background:

Idolizing Green Arrow, orphan Roy Harper had mastered archery when he was a teenager on a Navajo reservation. Harper became billionaire Oliver Queen's ward and, later, his guardian nicknamed him "Speedy" because of the quickness he exhibited with his bow. Donning a red outfit that was similar in design to Green Arrow's, the two protected Star City with an arsenal of gadgets and an "Arrowcave" that served as their headquarters.

The partners had a falling-out after the Emerald Archer joined Hal Jordan in a pickup truck on a journey across America. As distance grew between the two archers, Speedy turned to drugs for the comfort he could not find elsewhere. With the help of Black Canary and the Teen Titans, Speedy entered rehab and kicked his habit.

Harper became a counselor in anti-drug programs and later took a job with the DEA. As a narcotics agent, Speedy transferred to Checkmate, a division of the CBI (Central Bureau of Intelligence). While on assignment, Roy fell in love with the assassin Cheshire and fathered a child with her named Lian. Now known as Arsenal, Roy has a second chance with his former mentor.
