John Fogerty's standing as one of
rock and roll's true originals will be celebrated Thursday, October 1st at
11:30 a.m. when the legendary singer, songwriter, guitarist and performer will
receive a star on the fabled Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Fogerty's star is
located at 7000 Hollywood Blvd. (at Orange Drive) in front of the Hollywood
Roosevelt Hotel.
The ceremony, to be held at the star's location at 7000 Hollywood Blvd.,
recognizes Fogerty's enduring contributions to American music over more than
three decades, as both the founder and front man of Creedence Clearwater
Revival and a solo artist in his own right. It comes at a time when the
artist is enjoying a creative and commercial renaissance with Blue Moon Swamp,
this 1997 Grammy winner for Best Rock Album and this year's live in-concert
Reprise Records release, Premonition capturing the energy and excitement of
John Fogerty's recently completed world tour.
Beyond his Grammy award, various aspects of Fogerty's professional career have
been recently highlighted. As a composer, he was saluted with the National
Association of Songwriters Lifetime Achievement Award; for his instrumental
abilities, he was honored with the Orville H. Gibson Lifetime Achievement
Award. Additionally, Fogerty's power as an attraction was acknowledged by
Performance Magazine which cited him for the Theater Tour Of The Year.
