Is there a CCR compact disc called "Cajun Rockers"????
All of the original CCR guys are supposed to be pictured on the sleeve.
It is supposed to be a Live Album. From what we've heard, it has the
numbers EML 100 or EML 190 and should be on the Eclipse label.
It can be barcoded 9314223076249. The first 9 denotes Oz manufacture.
The songs are;
Born On the Bayou, Green River, Tombstone Shadow, It Came Out Of the Sky,
Travelin' Band, Who'll Stop the Rain, Bad Moon Rising, Proud Mary,
Fortunate Son, Commotion, Midnight Special, Night Time is the Right time,
Up Around the Bend and Keep On Chooglin'.
A wild guess is that it could be a compilation of the well known concerts
(e.g. Oakland, etc) but looking at the old albums and boots listings, we can
not find a similar set list.
Please, send us a note if you know or hear anything about it.
The news articles after the John Fogerty LP release.
When it was released in 1975, 'John Fogerty' got THE most outstanding set of
reviews that I have ever seen on a CCR/JCF release.
From NME; (Headline) "This man gave rock ' n ' roll to you; five years later
he is giving you some more."
"This is enough to restore your faith in superstars. Five years after 'Cosmo's
Factory', John Fogerty has produced an absolute killer Creedence album. And
since Creedence where the sharpest populist rock band since The Beatles, you
know how good that is."
From MM; ( headline) Fogerty: sweet rock ' n ' roller."You can't keep a good
man down goes the saying, and it's particularly applicable to John Fogerty. As
the mainstay of a band that totally dominated the early seventies he would be
more than justified in settling back and enjoying his millions. But no - with
the single minded dedication of a dedicated professor, he's plugged away at his
pet obsession, making the ultimate solo rock album, whereby he really does do
everything."
From SOUNDS; (headline) Fogerty: Rock'n'roll lives! " 'John Fogerty' is one of
those rare recordings that make the written word totally inadequate; the sort
of record that reduces the most devotedly self conscious and incorruptible
critic to vain hyperbolic attempts at communication. It's so good that what you
really want to do is throw open all the windows and tell the world about
it................If you value the spirit of rock'n'roll but seldom find it ,
then look no longer; simply rush out and buy this magnificent record. I have
not heard a new album that matches it for sheer magic in a very long time."
Rolling Stone; (headlines 'Here Comes Functional Fogerty, One Man Supergroup')
John Fogerty single handendly prepares records that are virtually perfect in
execution as well as conception; brilliantly concise self - expression,
captivating and broad based radio music."
PHEW! and all this for a record that did not sell a jot and which the man
himself apparently does not really care for.
Peter Greendale, England.
John Fogerty has got a new drummer in Steve Ferrone. Steve has earlier played
in / with bands like: Average White Band, Eric Clapton, Duran Duran & Tom Petty.
Premonition CD, absolute awesome from start to finish !
by Bruce A Cook
This past Saturday night turned out to be a wonderful surprise for me!!!!!
I was contacted by a manager at a local Blockbuster Music store who had
just received an advance copy of John's latest CD Premonition. He wanted
to know if I wanted to go over to give it a listen.......I high tailed it
over there pronto!! He put it on at one of the listening stations and
gave me a set of headphones. I wish I could have the words to describe
to you all what the next hour or so was like. I'll start by saying that the
only bad feeling you're gonna have is that you had to wait so long to
hear it....IT'S A GEM - ABSOLUTELY AWESOME FROM START TO FINISH!!!!!
John is vintage John Fogerty on every cut. The CD starts with the cricket
sounds that you've heard at John's concerts last year - then there's some
sort of amplifier feedback sound that builds the anticipation for the
opening of Born on the Bayou like you're in person for a live show!! Just
when you can't stand the wait any longer John begins the riff for BOTB.
Lordy, Lordy!!!! What can I say! The only thing that's missing is John
standing there right in front of you because from the sound that's what
you're expectin'. John's voice has the strength and sound that only he
can deliver and his guitar playing, well......none can match him on
either. John Fogerty out does John Fogerty on both fronts on this CD. I
can't list every song cause my time here on Bruce's computer is running
short - so I'll do what I can on just a few songs for now. Premonition
is gonna rock you like only John Fogerty can - the refrain is something
like Well, it's all right, this premonition is killing me, well, it's
all right, I must be crazy, I must be seeing thangs (note, not things,
thangs cause that's how John sings it - you will love it!!!!!!) This is
an instant John Fogerty classic - another one - is all I can say. You
won't be able to sit still while listening to this or any of the songs
with the exception of Joy of My Life since that is an entirely different
type of song - but you all know that. John's new versions of Almost Saturday
night and Rockin' All Over the World are hot, hot, hot, hot,
hot.........have to both be released as singles along with Premonition.
With the Waters backup vocals to go along with John's lead singing on
Almost Sat. Night and Rockin', they are can't miss hits along with
Premonition. I truly got tears from happiness and proudness when
listening to these songs and John's versions of his older hit songs.
Just when you think John can't surprise you or do anything that you'll
enjoy more, he astonishes you and does just that. That is the best way I
can think to describe this CD. Blue Moon Swamp songs sound brand new all
over again - Swamp River Days has a really cool almost raunchy kinda
sound, his older songs from his beginning are more dynamic sounding than
you can ever believe. Forget listening to the original versions - John
Fogerty does what only John Fogerty can do - everything he has done
before SOUNDS BETTER ON THIS CD than his originals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!Wait till you hear the version here of Down on the Corner - there's
a touch of funk to it that's sets you on fire. John's voice on Who'll
Stop the Rain has a mellowness to it that will blow you away. He is so
dag gone versatile that he still astounds me today after 30 years of
rockin' with him. Well, I've got to end this although I wish I could
share more - maybe later this week. All I can say is that I got
goose bumps while I was listening to this thing cause it's that awesome.
Several people came over while I was listening to ask what I was enjoying
so much - I happily told them but there was no way they was gonna get the
headphones from me!!! Be prepared to hug your speakers after listening to
this cause you will be overwhelmed and over joyed after hearing
it!!!!!!!! One regret - John should of done a double CD so the pleasure
wouldn't end so soon. ROCK ON, JOHN AND JULIE CAUSE WE ARE THERE WITH
YOU ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a feelin'
Way down inside
I can't shake it
No matter how I try
You can't touch it
You just know
The earth is gonna shake
And the wind is gonna blow
Well that's aaaaaaaaaaaaall right
This premonition is killing me
But that's aaaaaaaaaaaaall right
I must be crazy
I must be seein' things
Out on the highway
Pickin' up clues
So much is "mis-seen"
So much to lose
You must be different
"Than rearranged"
Can't pin it down
But I know it's not the same
Hit me!
I can't eat
I can't sleep
All of a sudden I got witches in my feet
It's like waitin' for
The shoe to drop
I know it's comin' but I don't know where to stop

"Rockin' All Over The World".
To commemorate the anniversary we have redesigned the
site completely. We have also selected a new name for it.
From this point on, the site will be called ELECTRIC BAYOU.
ELECTRIC BAYOU consists of aprox. one hundred pages of
more or less essential Creedence Clearwater Revival and
John Fogerty stuff. We have latest news, concert info
and reports, FAQ, stories, discography's, bibliographical
listings, info about appearances on TV, radio and cybermedia,
reviews, image section, feedback corner, results of various surveys,
collectable items, some memorable, tribute albums and last
but not least: plenty of unnecessary trivia.
ELECTRIC BAYOU is an independent and noncommercial site with no official
relations to any of the former CCR members or their representatives in the
business. Our focus is on Creedence Clearwater Revival and their
ex-members? current solo and band acts. It's a well known fact that the
relations between the former Creedence members are not very good. We hope
that everybody honors our desire to stay out of these disputes.
Well, it's time to pass out a free one-way ticket to you all and
invite you to step on the Electric Bayou. If you like our old new
site, write it to our guestbook and if you don't, tell us what's
missing.

As the backbone of Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Fogerty wrote songs
that defined an era and spoke directly to the working man. As a solo act,
his muddy, bayou voice still speaks to the masses.

Hi all!
Most of you on this list have probably heard the story between Run
Through The Jungle and The Old Man Down The Road, that it should be the
same song but with different lyrics.
This went to court and when I cruised a little on the net I found a site
where you can read what the court had to say about it.
This is heavy reading, (the language of the law you know), but maybe
some of you are interested in what they had to say about it.

John Fogerty - Orville Gibson Lifetime Achievement Award
From: ( no sender )
Gibson Musical Instruments will honor rock icon John Fogerty, one of
popular music's most enduring and resilient forces, with the 1998
Orville H. Gibson Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist-singer-songwriter will receive
the award at a star-studded ceremony at New York City's Hard Rock Café
Tuesday, February 24th 1998, a day prior to the Grammy Awards. Thirteen
other of the world's top guitarists also will pick up Gibson Guitar Awards.
"John Fogerty is one of America's true guitar heroes," said Henry Juszkiewicz,
chairman and CEO of Gibson Musical Instruments said. "From his days with
Credence Clearwater Revival to his fantastic new Blue Moon Swamp album,
John has influenced generations of guitarists along the way . . .me included.
We at Gibson thought it was only fitting to honor him with 1998 Lifetime
Achievement Award."
The award is determined each year from nominations by editors of leading
guitar magazines with the winner in each category chosen by music critics
from around the country. Proceeds from the award ceremony benefit the
Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Foundation, which aids severely handicapped
children through the use of improvisational music.
Fogerty commented, "This is a tremendous honor for me. In recent years I've
spent a lot of time honing my skills as a guitarist, which shows that the
learning process is an ongoing one. It's great that the kids at Nordoff-Robbins
are going to benefit from it as well."
Past recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award include B.B. King, Emmylou
Harris, Vince Gill and Joni Mitchell. Final 1998 nominees for the thirteen
other categories include Dave Matthews, Pat Matheny, Sheryl Crow, Johnny Lang
and Bonnie Raitt, among others.
Fogerty, who was honored last year by the National Association of Songwriters
with its Lifetime Achievement Award, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1995
as part of Creedence Clearwater Revival. After CCR's breakup in 1972, Fogerty's
career was marked by record company legal squabbles, acclaimed solo albums and
a long hiatus between projects and public performances. Fogerty bounced back
last year (1997) with Blue Moon Swamp, a gold album nominated for three Grammy
Awards including Rock Album and Male Rock Performance of the year. He is the
composer of such classic songs as "Proud Mary", "Who'll Stop the Rain", "Bad
Moon Rising", "Down On the Corner", "Fortunate Son" and "Centerfield". His
compositions have been performed and recorded by hundreds of artists worldwide.
Bruce Springsteen was one of the visitors attending the August 31 Bank Arts Center
concert in New Jersey, USA. He met up with JF back stage after the concert.
There has been a lot talking about why Mr. Fogerty comes to Scandinavia¨but not to
Central Europe. Some of the speculators have thought that we in Scandinavia pay
Mr. Fogerty more (our promoters satisfies Mr.Fogertys demands). If his demands
would relate to money the worst places he could chose would be Scandinavia.
Take Helsinki or Turku in Finland for example. Hartwall Arena takes 12.000
spectators, Turku a little less. The tickets are around 40 USD. That does not
make a lot money no matter how you count.
Michael Jackson had 2 concert on the Olympic Stadium here. He had more than 60.000
spectators! Rolling Stones and Elton John also filled this stadium.
There is a little difference, I ´d say. In Central Europe there must be places bigger
than our Olympic Stadium in almost every village. The total amount of inhabitants
in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark (23,6 million) is less than the inhabitants
in for example England alone (58,6 million). As for the promoters/arranger over
here: none of them is willing to pay from their own wallets to get Mr. Fogerty
over here. So why is he coming here? I don´t know but it sure is not a matter of money.
Leif Bagge, Porvoo, Finland
Robert Aerts answers:
Leif, the problem over here is that the promoters say/think they even can't fill
a
3000 place venue with an act like 'John Fogerty'. They say not many know the name
John Fogerty. I DON'T agree with that of course!
If you count 3000 people and multiply that with the entrance money they ask, then
the promoters lose money, and they won't do that. I heard they offered John about
15 percent only of what he asks, so it's also obvious John can't accept such an
offer or he loses money.
In Scandinavia John is or was on the top of the charts, so everybody is familiar
with the name, that's the difference, I think. I'm pretty sure he can fill a ten
thousand people venue over here too, but you go and try to convince the promoters,
I tried it several times, but if it's about risking money, they're nowhere to find.
"Winning a Grammy was very important to me. I'm very happy I won. The
trouble was, my category, best rock album, wasn't part of the regular
ceremony, the part that you see on television," Fogerty said.
"Many of the awards are given out during the afternoon, like best spoken
word album, Eastern Hemisphere. It's like batting practice before the
real baseball game is played."
Fogerty passed on attending the afternoon Grammy session because he was
scheduled to present an award during the prime-time television
broadcast.
"I wanted to arrive, all duded up with my wife, just before I presented
the award for album of the year. Everybody was expecting Bob Dylan to
win it, so it was exciting for me. Bob has such a presence and he's
made such a contribution to song writing that I'm a little intimidated by
him."
Fogerty was still in his hotel when news came that his album, _Blue Moon
Swamp_, had won the Grammy.
"My wife took the call. I'll never forget that. We were both so happy.
I had been up for a couple of other awards and had not won anything. We
thought, oh well, may the best man win and long live the king."
"So I didn't get to be one of those guys you see sitting in the audience
with a goofy expression on their faces while their name is read off. I
didn't get to run up to the stage and recite that speech that I've been
writing for all those years."
He may yet to get to give that speech. Fogerty is up for two Grammys
next week. When his categories, best rock album and best male rock
vocal, are presented, day or night, he'll be in the audience, properly
duded up.
The next day, it will be back to the grind. Fogerty said he's taking a
break from touring in 1999 to write songs for his next album.
"I'm so alive now. I'm in that creative groove again. I have a rhythm,
absolutely, and I'm not going to let anything mess with that. I love
being in a routine where I work on new songs every day. That's when you
see me with a smile on my face."
