He started an not so successful solo career in 1972. He started the group "Rudy"
in 1976
and that group disbanded in 1978. He died in his home in Arizona on the 6:th
of September 1990.
He had been ill for a long time in tuberculosis.
After Tomīs death, an album was released. In 1993, with his widow Patricia Fogertyīs permission,
the LP "Sidekicks" was released, and on it was Tomīs last songs. Those songs was recorded together
with Randy Oda. It was released on Fantasy Records and has the # FDC9664-2.
