"Alex's past is coming back to haunt her and she's making an enemy in the process!
After Alex pushes David down a staircase, he covers for her, saying that he fell. Alex can't imagine why he'd protect her- and neither can Erica, who is all set to call the police. David asks Alex why she pushed him. She confesses that she thought David was someone else, someone named Geoffrey. Later, she tells Edmund about calling David Geoffrey, who she thinks is someone from her past.
At the same time, Erica's not convinced by David that he'll handle Alex. In fact, she's getting annoyed that he won't let her help him. Naturally, Erica takes matters into her own hands and tries to dig up information on Alex. Meanwhile, Alex is having difficulty coming to terms with things from her past that keep cropping up when she least expects it!?

Alex Flips Out at the Crystal Ball (SOW 1/4/2000)
"Alex the doctor becomes Alex the patient this week on All My Children when she begins to crack under the pressure of the holidays and also having to work so closely with David as co-director of the Andrassy Foundation.
People are beginning to notice her reaction to David's continual presence in her life is getting a little out of hand. Rae immediately notices something is wrong with Alex and goes to check on her; she finds Alex having a panic attack and tries to talk to her. Though reticent at first, Alex begins to open up to Rae and listen to her suggestion that David might be triggering a memory- that in fact it might not be David who is the cause of her distress at all.
David also doesn't understand why Alex can't get past her negative feelings toward him and let bygones be bygones. He continues to question her about it, which only makes matters worse. He goes to Edmund and tells him he's worried about Alex's mental state. Edmund asks David to stay clear of Alex, especially during the Crystal Ball festivities.
David ignores Edmund's request, and he and Alex have an encounter the two will not soon forget.

New Year's Eve Nightmare for Alex! (SID 12/28/99)
"This week, as the Crystal ball raises more questions about Alex's past, the mystery woman jeopardizes David and Erica's future! It all begins when David ditches Erica to bring Alex flowers. After Alex sends the vase crashing across her lodge, Rae assists in picking up the pieces- literally and emotionally. The relationship expert suggests that there is a connection between David and the hyperventilating Alex's anxieties about clocks and New Year's Eve. Rae then makes Alex realize that David reminds her of someone from her past.davidalexgrave.jpg (9191 bytes)
    It's a Date!
Meanwhile, Edmund notices missing years on Alex's resume. Further piquing his curiosity is David's report on Alex's outburst. Concerned, Edmund checks in with his late brother's widow, and the two agree to honor Dimitri's wish that they look out for each other. Comforted, Alex agrees to attend the Crystal Ball!
    Erica dumps David!
At the Soiree, Rae and Edmund observe Alex's tense reaction to a tuxedoed David's arrival. Edmund warns Dr. Hayward to steer clear, but the damage is already done: Alex flashes back to a man in a tux! When David asks for a dance, Alex tells Erica she's fed up with him and his gifts. Per David's version of his and Alex's past, Erica writes off Alex as a woman scorned. 'Demand the truth,' Alex urges. In turn, Erica blasts David for standing her up to deliver flowers to Alex and exits herself!
    David goes too far!
While Alex hurries to leave before the clock strikes midnight, David follows, as Rae watches. Cornering Alex, David begs her to stop acting so 'irrationally.' That exact choice of words rings hauntingly in Alex's ears, triggering a disturbing flashback of an older man, and prompting her to do something quite unexpected and rash!
