Dynamic Duos (SOD 7/19/1994)
It's a match made in heaven for AMC's Maria and Edmund

Maria is the diligent doctor with the killer bod. Edmund is the globe-trotting journalist with the silver tongue. Yet when they got together, it wasn't a case of opposites attracting- it was more like birds of a feather flocking together. From the moment they steamed up the dance floor at Hal's Country Western bar, Maria and Edmund realized that they had more in common than just a flair for the Texas two-step. Some might say that familiarity breeds contempt; here it just adds fuel to the flames.

Mr. and Mrs. Grey are both intelligent, loyal and stubborn individuals. This makes them perfectly suited and- suprisingly- never boring. Marriage for most soap couples means standing on the sidelines while their single friends have all the fun. But these lovebirds still enjoy a night on the town or an afternoon in bed. They also appreciate each other's great sense of humor- and with all the family strife that's been going on at Wildwind, the ability to share a good laugh is important.

Okay, we know know that they are still newlyweds, and Del Hunkle (a man from Maria's past) may cause the happy couple a few problems. But somehow we're not worried. With everything that their relationship has endured during the past year (like Edmund waffling between Brooke and Maria), it's going to take more than an old boyfriend to break up Edmund and Maria's bond.

Technical Difficulties
Before they found each other, Maria and Edmun played the game of love- and lost. Here's a look at their romantic histories.

Maria Santos
Del Hunkle: This smooth Southern charmer romanced Maria with empty promises, then dumped her. Now Del's dating Maria's sister, Julia.

Edmund Grey
Brooke English: The first love of Edmund's life. They would have married, but she broke off their engagement after Edmund chose revenge (on his brother, Dimitri) over china patterns. After that mess was cleared up, Edmund wanted Brooke back. They were on the verge of reuniting when Tad (the father of Brooke's son, Jamie) returned from the dead, and Brooke married him. Edmund stared dating Maria while he pined for his ex-fiancee. When Brooke's marriage fell apart, she sought a reunion with Edmund, but it was too late- he was happily committed to walking down the aisle with Maria.
