Dimitri Rumor Could Be True! "The buzz at All My Children is that the show has approached Michael Nader and that a deal is in the works for him to return to the popular role of Dimitri Marick some time next year. An AMC insider says the rumor is 'actually not too farfetched.' The show's publicist preferred not to comment. Hmmm... The popular actor's ouster last summer set off a firestorm of protest from devoted fans who organized campaigns, which even include a Web site (http://www.angelfire.com/mn/savenader). In August, fans sent a petition to the president of ABC daytime, Angela Shapiro. Vocal loyalists questioned Executive Producer Jean Dadario Burke about Nader's dismissal at the AMC Fan Club Party in September. The outraged devotees also hoped to impact AMC's sweeps ratings by tuning out on November 5 (That week, the ratings went up one-tenth.) Nader, who joined AMC as the dashing count in 1991, thanked his dogged supporters for their 'very, very intelligently written letters' in a 9/21 Digest article. The 'Save Michael Nader Campaign' Web Site includes a thank-you letter from the actor with a handwritten note urging fans to 'Give them hell!' They are- and it looks like ABC is listening to them." |
