This is a list of links to some good photographs of Liverpool, both modern and old. I hope to find
some sites which have artistic drawings of what Liverpool used to look like before the invention
of the camera. This would show the old castle and the village Liverpool used to be. However, the
best way to see Liverpool without actually being there is to take a look at the pictures at some
of the sites below! Have fun, but don't get too homesick :-)
Bootle Images: Some interesting images of Bootle, a few taken from the top of Hugh Baird College.
Edwardian Liverpool: A great set of pictures of Liverpool buildings dating from the early 20th century.
Tall Ships '92 - River Mersey: Some fantastic images of the return of the tall ships to the Mersey celebrating the 500 year anniversary of the "discovery" of the Americas by Columbus.
The SJS Files: An amazing and large collection of pictures of Merseyside places.
Far Meadow Arts: According to their site, they "produce videos and fine art prints of the Liverpool, Wirral, Merseyside and Cheshire areas as they are now, and as they have been in the past."
Reflections: An excellent black & white photo archive of bygone Liverpool.
The Boydell Galleries: A good set of quality Liverpool images linked on the right side of the page.
Photographs of the Wirral: A great place for images of the Wirral, this site includes a good index of what is available.
Liverpool Trams: Images of the old trams, the author states "I don't have any background information on these other than my own now hazy memories" which makes it more personal and interesting.
Images of England: Search by location, then county for some good pictures from the Knowsley, Liverpool & Sefton districts. Sadly, St. Helens and the Wirral are not working yet.
Get Mapping: Type in Liverpool and you will get an overhead picture of the city centre across from the Albert Dock. Use the arrows to move around.
Southport Pictures: Though few in number, these panoramic images provide a full 360 degree view of parts of Southport.
Pictures of Walton: A good set of mostly black & white images of the Walton area.
Pictures of Liverpool: A selection of pictures taken from the top of the Anglican Cathedral and the Pier Head.
Liverpool Prints: An excellent set of prints, ranging from W.G. Herdman to John Clynn, and all for sale.
Lancashire Prints: Although focused on the general Lancashire area, this page has images of what are now Merseyside places.
Lancashire in 1830: The place to go for images of Lancashire, including many of Liverpool, around 1830.
Reginald Robinson's Artwork: A few pictures produced by a "talented Liverpool artist specializing in painting scenes in and around the Liverpool area."
