MY NON-LIVERPOOL INTERESTS




I intend to use this page as a gateway to my non-Liverpool interests. Please feel free to look through these links, and check out some projects I have completed.

Through a long set of circumstances I ended up in Carbondale, Illinois (it is in the middle of the US, near St. Louis), studying History at Southern Illinois University. I got my B.A. in 1997 and have also completed my Master's in History. I am currently finishing a second Master's degree, this time in Instructional Design & Technology. Part of this degree involves the use of technology in education, and the basics of which can hopefully be seen in my work on this website, and especially in some of the work I have done listed below. Currently, I have two projects online, and hope to add more in time:

Reading Resistors 101 is a self-instructional module project on how to read the color codes on an electrical resistor. The module itself is structured upon David Merrill's Component Display Theory and consists of help sections, practice questions with feedback, and a post-test. Jon Sweetin and I were both in a self-instruction class at SIUC and worked together on this tutorial.

Objectives 101 is another online self-instruction module project. By the end of this course students should be able to list the four parts of an objective, improve a previously weakly written objective, and state a previously unseen objective. This was a final project for the course which I designed myself.

History 110 is the website I designed for a History course at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. The course was an introductory level 20th century US History course with approximately 250 students involved. Aside from with design, development, and implementation of the website, I also created the final group project for the course, the History WebQuest.

Another course website I designed, primarily for use as a supplement to classroom activities while teaching at Southeastern Illinois College was for the Western Civilization I course.
