Aleksandr Fyodorovich Trepov

1863-1928

After a career as military and as an official 1915 minister of transport, he hurried up the construction of the Murmansk railroad and in December 1916 he was appointed Prime Minister. Trepov who always had sympathy for certain moderate and constitutional sympathies, tried to bring consolation between the Czar and the Duma but he did not succeed to break the reactionary Royal Court resistance and in Jan 1917 he resigned.
