Party are again in disarray following yesterday's (20/11/00) announcement by Dennis Canavan to terminate his application to re-join the Labour Party. Maybe the pains from his conscience became too much - or maybe it was Eric Joyce's pompous and supercilious letter in last week's Herald that finally turned his stomach - who knows. One thing is clear - New Labour have gained no credibility from the recent shenanigans.
New Labour, aware of the threat from the Scottish Socialist Party, have recently sought to re-market themselves as a left of centre party, bending over backwards; breaking every rule to re-admit a popular left-winger. A strategy which has now backfired.
The Scottish Socialist Party relishes the opportunity of giving the people of Falkirk the option of supporting a genuine Socialist, one with unwavering principles.
