The
new swim power of Republic of Srpska
| The news from the town of Banjaluka (Republic
of Srpska) really assure us that the swimming in this part of the former
Yugoslavia goes onward by the ‘seven miles’ steps. “Vrbas” and “Banjaluka”
swimming clubs established just few years ago both from the town of Banjaluka,
represent the most perspective swimming sources in this moment. The last
2000/2001 season showed that the professional approaches in the trainers
engagements, private investments, worthy sponsorships and especially parents
involving in the development of younger pioneer and pioneer categories
(ages 10-14) brought them many successes.

| Born in Banjaluka in 1991. Her first steps
in swimming were made at Borac-Incel Swimming Club, Banjaluka where she
overcame the techniques and practice duties and started with the competitor
swimming. Since 1999, Ms. Racic competes for “Vrbas” Swim Team where she
became the top swimmer in very short period of time. Great help Tanja has
from her sister Slobodana (1989). Their international experiences are mostly
compiled at the International meets in Republic of Srpska and Serbia, also
at the National Championships in Yugoslavia.
At the last few events in Yugoslavia this year, Ms. Tanja Racic won almost all first places in 100 m and 200 m butterfly, also 200 m I.M. in the category of the younger pioneers. At the YU National Younger Pioneer Championships 2001 (LC) organized in the town of Krusevac (Yugoslavia), on July 28, 2001 Ms. Tanja Racic won four gold medals in 100 m and 200 m Fly, 100 m Freestyle and 200 m I.M. and got the complimentary prize as the best women swimmer in the course of 2001. |
