Just after the opening ceremony of the XIVth Mediterranean Games Mr. Vladan Markovic the best YU swimmer won the bronze medal in 100 m fly (time 0:54.51).  The next days YU swim representatives also made fantastic results in 200 m fly (Markovic 2:01.13), and in 4 x 100m Men Medley Relay (Vladan Markovic, Igor Beretic, Mladen Tepavcevic and Nebojsa Bikic) with the New Yugoslav Record (time 3:49.91)  According to the opinion of Mr. Matija Koprivica, YU National Coach, two sixth places, one fourth and one bronze medal are what we expected prior the arriving to Tunis. All those would be the ideal fundament for the next international events in the new season.  Stay tune and we'll be back soon with the exclusive reports. Slovenian Open Swimming Championships 2001 were held in the town of Kopar from August 2 to August 5, 2001 in the new open city LC pool. Our national men team participated with the  next athletes: Nebojsa Bikic, Ranko Tepavcevic, Mladen Tepavcevic, Igor Beretic and Milos Djordjevic. It was fantastic event with a great success of Yugoslav competitors.

General Assembly of Yugoslav Swimming Federation
With regard to the agreement of all YSF members since the January 2001 and after some vacuum period in the normal functioning of the various domestic swimming activities the General Assembly of Yugoslav Swimming Federation elected the new President and the expert team at its conference on June 21, 2001.

Mr. Slobodan Petrovic, President The new President of YSF is Mr. Slobodan Petrovic, ex-President of ‘11 April’ Swimming Club, Belgrade. In his first official turning to all YSF members Mr. Petrovic expressed his hope that the new YSF authority will have an understanding for all Clubs’ demands. Also more efforts would be inlayed in the modern development then in the past. The first its task is to find the possibilities to over jump present problems, and to assure the stabile financial sources and supports for the quiet and normal preparations of all our National teams.  Temporary Coach team and the new Secretary General will undertake all duties in organizing representative teams for the upcoming World, European and the Balkan swimming events.
Wishing the best successes to the top people of YSF in the next 4 years period, the Presidency of ‘Swim Star 2000’ Swimming Club would like to congratulate and in the same time to remind that this country is really full of the youth swim talents who deserve just the normal conditions for their fundamental development. We all hope that it won't be forgotten. The pools are here, also the trainers but not the warm water. If the right ways can be found the new swimming champions would be born. We'll try… Hope you'll, too (Olivera Mladenovic, president).

Upon the excellent organization of "PARTIZAN" SC, Belgrade the new age group swim event was held in the attractive open sport and swim complex of Vrujci Spa. Up to 170 athletes from 10 Serbian Clubs and one from Bosnia & Herzegovina competed in three categories 1987-1988, 1989-1990, 1991 and younger. All information, program, results, photo gallery, etc. on this interesting regional swimming event which is renewed after many years of inactivity you may see at our new page League of Belgrade 2001. Since each planed four rounds of the competition had been finished ( from May 5, 2001 to June 9, 2001), Swim Star 2000 Agency prepared the separately and complete reports with the final results. All results of the Round - 1  Round -2 and Round - 3 are available now.

The new chief people and the organizing commissions of Serbian Swimming Association were elected. At the General Assembly of Serbian Swimming Association that was held in Belgrade on April 25, 2001, after the regular and official elections, the delegates of 26 Clubs and regional associations established the New Presidency and the Expert Team who will try to steer the swim development of this country in the period of the next four years.
