Traditional Swimming Championships of the primary and middle schools of Belgrade, joined this year about 600 competitors from over 50 schools, pupils from the fifth to eighth classes (age 11-14) in two categories and pupils from the middle schools (age 15-19) in only one category.

Present Champ in comparing to the events in the early years was better organized. This year upon the complete patronage of the Republic Ministry of Sport and Sport Association of Serbia. However, the problems with the time measurements repeated again. Also, the schedule of the heats was not respected precisely. Some objections from a few coaches and athletes didn't bungle the complete impressions.

“XI Gymnasium” the best middle school in Belgrade

Igor Rasula at the winners place (100 m Backstroke, bronze)

Mr. Igor Rasula, the best swimmer of our Club represented ”XI Gymnasium” Belgrade at this Champ. As only one race had to be swum out by each participant, our swimmer was qualified for 100-m backstroke. Among 24 athletes (age 15-19) in three heats, Igor Rasula was ranked the third (as the younger in his category) and won bronze medal (time 1:17,04 in LC pool). However, he wasn't satisfied, especially with the time. As on his 15 days of staying in bed (because of the flue) prior to the event, luckily he returned back with the medal. Congratulations!!
And other medalists came from XI Gymnasium, Belgrade.... Meet them, too...

Although the pupils and children of Belgrade have no appropriate conditions for intensive swimming development, especially considering all these years of sanctions, aggression, inadequate policy, etc., this Championship showed that the new swimming talents are here and/or are coming up. All Belgrade's Swimming Clubs have to find a way to help those young talents to stay and continue with a serious training process especially since the end of the primary school. Therefore, some suggestions have to be transferred to the Republic Ministry of Education and Sport firstly to form the fundament conditions for all those. On behalf of the Presidency and all members of our Club, we're thankful for their efforts to organize this fantastic event again.
