The main City competition of Belgrade's primary Schools
Belgrade's primary schools Championships 2000
Belgrade, Tasmajdan swimming center, December 5, 2000

The traditional Swimming Championships of the Belgrade's primary schools joined this year over  60 schools with almost 600 competitors, pupils from the fifth to eighth classes (age 11-14). Present champ in comparing to the events in the early years, was more attractive due to the patronage of the State Ministry of Sport. However, the problems with the time measurement repeated again. In addition, the schedule of the heats was not respected totally. Pursuant to all those, there were some objections from the coaches  especially on the variance in the measured results.

This traditional event showed that Belgrade has a new potency not only in the swimming talents, but also in the organizing of a swim events designated to the wide range of elementary and middle school, faculties, etc.

Igor Rasula as a represent of his school won  the bronze medal in 50 m back

Mr. Igor Rasula, the best swimmer of our Club represented ”Seven Secretaries of SKOJ” elementary school, New Belgrade at this champ.

As only one race had to be swum by each participant, our swimmer was qualified in 50-m backstroke. Among 24 athletes in three heats, Igor Rasula was ranked 3rd in total and won the bronze medal (time 0:34,04 in LC pool). That was one of the 15 medals of all swimmers from Igor’s school.

“Seven secretaries of SKOJ” school won the special award for  the best school in swimming in 2000 and again repeated its superiority in swimming for the last few years.

But our competitor was not so happy after the race, as he hoped to reach a better time.

Igor Rasula had  a special feeling at the winners place, because he was awarded by Prof. Milos Tadic, director of his "Seven Secretaries of SKOJ" elementary school

Undoubtedly, the happiest man at the and was Prof. Milos Tadic, Director od Seven Secretaries of SKOJ, elementary school form New Belgrade. Almost every swimming club in Belgrade have to express their thanks to Prof. M.Tadic and the professors of physical education in his school for the continual exposing of many talents in the early periods. Many of those young people continued later with their professional swimming activities in some Belgrade's swimming clubs or abroad and became the national recorders.

Although we have no appropriate conditions for swimming development in this country, especially after the period of sanctions last 8 years, this Championship showed that we should be in the position to have new fantastic swimmers and international competitors. Just the people of YSF really have to help all those young talents to stay in swimming after finishing of primary school. Therefore, the new State Ministry of Sport is on the way to do something. We all hope. Thanks for their efforts this Championships to be organized again.
