Rosalind narrates:
"Ah Leng wandered into our condo, Lengkong Apts, (hence her name) one day in Nov.2000. Just as I was about to leave the house. She came out from the bushes. She was only a little kitty, about 2 months old, I think. I gave her some biscuits, which was all I had. The next day she was there again, same time, same place. I gave her some canned kitty food. Since then, she had been a resident at our void deck. Each evening, as soon as our car reaches the carpark, she would dash out to greet us, without fail. I can still remember her joy at seeing us knowing that there's food, surely. Our condo was up for enbloc and we had another about 8 months before we all had too go. I was desperate to find a home for Ah Leng. Sadly, my family does not want a cat in our new home. Although I had been feeding Ah Leng all this time, she never allowed me to touch or stroke her. She was FIERCE. She would hiss and scratch whenever anyone went too near her, even when I was putting food in front of her. Such was her nature! Time was running out for Ah Leng, when I heard about Metta Cattery. By God's grace and the help of the volunteers, I was able to house her at Metta Cattery. She would not have been able to survive on her own as she was dependent on myself and one of my good neighbours for her meals. Imagine how overjoyed I was when I had a call from the Cattery. It was Salie and then,. Jenny who later came to help me capture Ah Leng. We had a problem as Ah Leng was untouchable. Then there was also Sandy, another tabbycat who was pregnant. Jenny had arranged to meet me one evening to capture both of them and send them to the vet for sterilisation. Thank God, I was able to capture Ah Leng without any problem. I managed to ensnare her into my basket with the help of a bit of cheese bread. Ha Ha GOTCHA Leng!!!! Jenny arrived and helped me capture Sandy who was pregnant. Poor Sandy didn't look too good. We took both of them to the vet. They were to be neutered the next day. The vet called . Ah Leng was neutered and was alright. But poor Sandy was hyperventilating. He suggested that we send her for an Xray to find out the problem. Poor Sandy had was suffering and in great pain. She had diaphragmatic hernia. An operation was the only way to ensure that she could have a normal life, if successful. Unfortunately poor Sandy didn't make it and passed away peacefully. Jenny, Sharon & Sarah helped to bury Sandy. Ah Leng was taken to the the cattery. She was well and strong. She was confined for about a week. She's now well adjusted to life in the Cattery, and I know she's happy there. Thank you Metta Cattery and Volunteers for caring. I cannot imagine where Ah Leng would be today if not for you all. 28th August 2001 |

Ah Leng "escaped" through a the drain that was not properly covered. No amount of coaxing got her back. She wandered off into the bushes The volunteers left when it was too dark to look for her. |
