Prince was a kitten when he was spotted at the void deck of Blk 229, Yishun Street 21. He was a white little furball with distinct black patches and a soulful single eye. Yes, he was blind in one eye from the day he was found some few months back - evidence that he was a victim of some abuse or catfights from a young, tender age. I decided to rescue Prince when I found him losing weight at an alarming rate and his infected eye oozing with puss. The poor boy was in deep pain and could not find any appetite to eat. He mewed at me softly from a safe distance everyday, as if crying for help. If he were left alone, he would be wasting away, a shame for an otherwise handsome Prince like him. The vet did a major operation on him to seal the eyelids of the missing eye. He also went through the neccessary checks and castration before I sent him to Meow and Bark boarding house for more than a week's recuperation. I have no qualms about investing a fortune on his treatment because he is a young and gentle prince who did not deserve to die. If anything, he should be given a good home after suffering so much. Since 24th March 2002, Prince is a member of Metta Cattery. He is still trying to fit in, but he should do okay - thanks to the compassion of the volunteers there. He no longer has to be sneered at by people or bullied by other cats. Hopefully, he will find a caring owner who can take him in despite his mild handicap, and forever bid farewell to the harsh cold world outside. Every Prince Charming deserves a fairy tale ending. And Prince is no exception. |
