A cat in a carrier was left at the entrance of the metta cattery with a note pleading for him or her to be taken in. It was in the hot sun! The volunteer who was at the cattery assessed the cat to be very fierce and couldn't be handled.

Subject: Enquiry

Dear Metta Cattery,
I am writing to enquire the health of my cat (Manja) which I left outside your gate on Thursday night, 7 Feb 2002.

Please do not be mad for my action, but I will be very grateful if you could email to me about her well-being.

Thank you.

Regards,

Concern and still loving owner

Dear Volunteers,

Once again, I ask for forgiveness. I know it is irresponsible of me to leave it outside the MC, but but I didn't know there was a virus spreading.

I couldn't bring her home. I just cannot. On hand, I have another 3 cats and a kitten to look after. She cannot get along with the rest of them. I know she is fierce - she will always be ...You have to take extra time .........to coax her. Calling her names over and over again will help. She eats Friskies biscuits (Gourmet flavour).

She has not been vaccinated before. She is roughly between 7 - 8 yrs of age.

Pls try to understand I cannot bring her home .......I took a long time and a lot of courage to do what I did.

For the expenses, I will take of it. If you need to bring it to the Vet, I will "fork out" the bill. Just e-mail me......

Once again, don't be angry. I cannot bring her home. And I cannot come down to MC.

Yours Sincerely,

Yang Indah

11th February 2002 manja (name given by 'owner' & left outside mc overnite) is confined in cubicle opposite penny's. she's a very nervous cat. think it's best to just leave her alone in the carrier (she's been hiding in the carrier since) but pls leave the food & water bowls on the plank, cose to the carrier. she's also not pee/poo since brought in on friday. if this continues, may need to bring to vet. feel very sorry looking at manja ... very nice face but extremely fearful of 'intruders'

manja pee & poo in the carrier but refused to let anyone change & clean it. 'forced' her out of hiding to clean as is not healthy for her. she has also started eating & drinking, as evidenced by reduced quantity in the food & water bowls.
however, can the owner pls let us know if manja is sterilised, otherwise, will need to arrange for her to be done.

p.s. from exchange of email with yang indah, we learnt that Manja is not neutered. We will send her for sterilisation once she is less afraid. The cost of sterilisation is about $100 and Pet-taxi fare is about $40.
24th March 2002

Karen couldn't confined her in her carrier last thursday for the sterilisation. Today Salie succeeded and Manja is now at Mt. Pleasant Vet.
29th March 2002

Manja is now back in the cattery. Jenny, a volunteer, who attended to the cattery today, said that she could carry her! Even thought Manja was still wearing Elizabethan collar to protect the sterlisation wound, Jenny was pleasantly surprised as Manja greeted her in the past with nothing short of hissings and snarls!
