1. How did the band get started? How did you meet
and how long have you been together? John McEntee:
Incantation was started in 89 when me and Paul Ledney left Revenant
cause we weren't happy with the direction they were going. We met
from being part of the same scene back in the day. The band has been
together for over 10 years now, with various different lineups.
2. How would you describe your music? John
McEntee: Brutal grinding unholy death metal. 3. What
are your biggest influences? John McEntee: Autopsy,
Possessed, Sarcofago, Celtic Frost, early Death, Necrophagia, Necrovore...
4. What influence do you think your bands has in music and
metal today? John McEntee: I'm not sure, I guess
the fans could answer that better. 5. What made you want
to be in the band? And if you werent in the band what would
you be doing now? John McEntee: Be doing now?
I've always wanted to play music as long as I can Remember. I dont
know what i'd be doing if I wasn't in music, because it has been a
huge part of my life for so long. 6. Are any band members
in side projects? If so what are they, and explain a little about
them. John McEntee: Rob also has Morpheus Descends
which is a brutal death metal band. He also has a band called Brimstone
which is more in a black metal vain. Look out for a Brimstone album
out with in a year. 7. How would you feel if a band took
their sound from yours and became very well known? John
McEntee: Tell 'em good luck. 8. What current bands
do you like or respect? John McEntee: Krisiun,
Immolation, Malevolent Creation, Vital Remains, Morbid Angel, any
band that plays kick ass metal and is true to themselves.
9. How many demos/albums do you have? Tell me about them!!
John McEntee: Our first demo was done back in 1990, and
another promo demo in 96. As far as albums we have released 3 full
lengths up until now..."Onward To Golgotha", "Mortal Throne of Nazarene",
and "Diabolical Conquest." We also did one MCD called "Forsaken
Mourning of Angelic Anguish." And one live in the studio cd called
"Tribute to the Goat." Incantation just finished recording our latest
full length called "Infernal Storm," to be released in early 2000.
10. What demo/album do you like the best?
John McEntee: Both of our demos were good, the latest full
length we did, "Diabolical Conquest," is probably our best production
out of all the albums. 11. What is the meaning behind
the songs? John McEntee: Each song has its own
theme to it, most of them dealing with some kind of sacreligious ideology.
12. What are the bands favorite songs? John
McEntee: We don't really have any favorite songs, we are fans
of all of them. 13. What does the future hold for the
band? John McEntee: Again, we are getting ready
to release our newest recording, "Infernal Storm." After that we will
do some touring to promote it. 14. If you could play
with any band who would it be and why? John McEntee:
Probably, I would say Autopsy because they rule. We did do a tour
with them back in '93 and they were totally cool guys and an incredibly
great live band. 15. Who writes the majority of the music?
John McEntee: We all contribute in the writing
of the music. 16. Who has been the favorite band youve
played with and why? John McEntee: See question
#14. 17. Where did you get the band name from?
John McEntee: Paul Ledney came up with the name.
18. Describe what the band is like live? John
McEntee: I think we give off a pretty good vibe with alot of energy
when we play live. Usually we get alot of kids to go crazy and get
into it. 19. If you are gonna do any kind of video what
would be in it? John McEntee: I think if we did
any kind of video it would just be live shots. 20. Are
there any touring plans made; if so tell me about them?
John McEntee: We arent 100% sure of any touring plans yet,
but we will be on the road alot after the release of the new album.
21. Where do you think the band will be 20 years from
now? John McEntee: I guess we will be playing
a 30th year reunion show. |
