Liz Phair Pictures

Some feminists cringed when Liz Phair's barefoot ravaged-waif-in-silk image appeared on the cover of ROLLING STONE in 1994. "No one was getting the point," says Phair. "I wore that slip 'cause I owned that slip. It was something I wore when I went out to dinner. That's what I thought I looked pretty in. I did my own makeup that day; no one did my hair. That shot was so honest -- a more real picture of me than any cover I've ever done."
