Things to Do. |
Okay, not a complete listing, but then again, there isn't exactly a wealth of things
to do in Hampton Roads. Then again, I've lived in far worse places, so
who would I be to complain? CLUBS Revelations at the Wave-4107 Colley Avenue in Norfolk. Every Tuesday night. The look of the club is great, Music is done by DJ Rick Danger and DJ Figurehead with guests. Guest DJs have been DJ Vikki Wilson (*does a little 'go Vikki' dance*) and DJ Ragdoll. They do Revelations in Richmond on Thursdays, but I don't like driving so far. Much fun though. Nice mix of goth/industrial/synthpop (or what passes for it nowadays...*brandishing cane*) and new wave or retroish stuff. Vertigo's Exile, Nocturnal Cafe, Abyss-1065 19th St. in Virginia Beach. Every Thursday night. It's happy, it's electronic, and it beats the hell out of sitting at home. On those rare occasions when I feel like driving the hour to get there anyway. The music is good. The drinks are tolerable. And it has people there. Rawk. Club Hartz...Virginia Beach...somewhere.-I hear they have things going on for Monday and Wednesday nights. However, as I've never been yet, I don't really want to say anything about it. Search for more info, kay? Kay. There's other stuff, but it's far away or something. So I'm not listing it here. Bah. MOVIES Naro Expanded Cinema-Colley Ave. in Norfolk's Histrionic Ghent.I love this place, for a few reasons. Not only do they have RHPS monthly, but it is where I first saw Il Postino, Tea With Mussolini, and several other movies that became my favorites. No Disney trash there. Yum. MUSEUMS Peninsula Fine Arts Center-101 Museum Drive, Newport News, VA 23606. I am not an artist. I like to look at art. I think it's pretty. I go here when I pretend that I am cultured, or when they have something going on that I really want to see, which is fairly regularly. Chrysler Museum of Art-245 West Olney Road, Norfolk, VA 23510. Oh look. More art. Big fucking surprise there, eh? I haven't been out there in a while, mostly because I've been too lazy, but I dig it nonetheless. |
