Grammar Nazi Strikes Again!

What I want to know is why the fuck I'm suddenly a bad person if I happen to correct someone's spelling or grammar.  It makes /me/ an asshole?

"Oh, you bitch!!!  How dare you point out that despite the fact that English is my first language, that I can't speak it with any degree of proficiency!"

That, and people who abbreviate unnecessarily.  SCUBA is certainly better than self-contained underwater breathing apparatus.  No argue from me on that one.  Here's fair warning.  If I see any of the below, I may just hunt you down and shoot you in the kneecaps.

u-the word is 'you'. Are two letters so fucking hard?
r-the word is 'are'.  See above.
ppl-What, forgot how to spell people?
pls-Please?

I think that's about it.  Pls don't u get me wrong.  I'm not saying anything about people who make the mistake between there, their, and they're.  However, should I happen to point it out, either a 'thanks' or shutting the fuck up is far more preferable to u bitching at me, because I actually managed to learn a bit of grammar in school.
