 Birth Story

Mommy And Melanie's Birth Story

I had a baby girl on Jan.12, 02. Melanie Lynn. She was 37 weeks.

I had a very rough labor, and the baby had a very rough labor and after.

My labor started when my water broke at home, I was very nervous.

I went into the hospital and was admitted.

I was GBS + so I needed at least 2 doses of antibiotics, so they started them.

They had also started pitocin.

I went from 2 cm to 4 cm in about an hour. I was 50 % effaced with -4 station.

I got my epidural and I stopped dilating.

I was at 4 cm for 5 hours.

The doctor noticed the baby's heart rate started to drop,

so they decided to do an emergency c-section.

I went back, they gave me more meds so I wouldn't feel the surgery.

Well they started to cut and pull, and boy I was never in so much pain.

They couldn't wait for the med. to take effect because the baby was in distress.

They ended up knocking me out completely.

I woke up to hear my baby had stopped breathing.

I can't even describe what I felt, but then the doctor said she is breathing now.

At this point he couldn't tell me everything was going to be okay.

I never even got to see my baby until hours later.

I was very nervous, upset and scared.

She had a tube down her throat and oxygen on.

She was put on c-pap for 2 days.

My heart, My poor baby girl. Well, She was in ICN for 5 days and did very well.

I later found out my pelvis was too small for the baby to drop and

her cord was being compressed.

She is now home and we are both doing very well.

I'm so happy everything worked out.

I just wanted to share my experience.

Although it wasn't all very happy, it turned out good in the end.

And I got to bring a healthy beautiful baby girl home- what more could I ask for.

She is such a blessing and joy.
