Shane McMahon news for August and September, 2001
September 22, 2001:
Shane was recently on Opie and Anthony, and here are some notes from it (including some interesting things about Shane's bachelor party): http://wrestlingdotcom.com/news/1800.shtml
Shane McMahon made an
appearance on Opie & Anthony yesterday. Here are the
happenings.
- Opie and Anthony started off by joking about Stephanie's
implants. Opie asked if he thought Stephanie's breasts were a
little large. Shane said he prefers not to think about his
sister's breasts. They continued to joke for a few more minutes
and Shane pleaded the fifth.
- O&A then began trashing the WWF Superstars for the comments
they made on Smackdown! last week regarding the terrorist
attacks. Shane said the comments were unscripted and from the
heart, but O&A basically called the wrestlers stupid and said
no one cares what they have to say. O&A admitted that Vince's
opening promo was awesome and even inspirational, but that
everyone else was terrible. They bashed Stephanie's statement in
particular (who hasn't). Shane didn't really say much about this.
- O&A got a little more serious and said they really wish the
WWF would take Jerry Lawler back. They said they like Paul
Heyman, but Raw's not the same without "The King".
Shane was very noncommittal and basically said he had no comment.
He admitted that the WWF has talked to him recently but wouldn't
say if the talks went well.
- This led to O&A mercilessly making fun of Lawler's
situation (they've been goofing on him for weeks). They said he
was pathetic and had some choice words for The Kat, too. They
said there are some photos of The Kat performing a sex act on
someone. They also said The Kat slapped a restraining order on
Lawler. Shane said he wasn't aware of either of those things (and
neither am I) so I'm not sure where O&A got their
information, but apparently they've seen the photos and they were
taken recently.
- O&A asked Shane what was going to happen on Smackdown! He
really didn't seem to know (since he was at the taping this is
kind of surprising!). He couldn't think of any matches on the
show but basically just said that the WWF was trying to put
smiles on people's faces following the tragedy. He tried to plug
Unforgiven, but didn't mention any of the specific matches.
- O&A regular Jim Norton, a comedian, just happened to walk
in at the end of the interview. He said he worked Shane's
bachelor party a few years ago and it was pretty wild. It was
held on a boat circling Manhattan. O&A asked if they had
strippers. Shane said yes and O&A began playing clips of
Vince demanding that the stripper take off her bra and get on the
floor like a dog (obviously the Vince-Trish sound bytes). Norton
said he got a T-shirt with the words "S.S. Shane"
written on it for working the party and everyone made fun of it.
Also, today I am going to a house show in Reading, PA. If there are any Shane sightings, I will let you know. ;) Also, I am planning on relaunching this site soon. So, be on the look out for that. I am extremely sorry for the lack of the updating (as always) but I promise things will be getting better soon.
In another news, according to Movies.com, Rollerball which Shane has a cameo in will be released February 8th, 2002!
September 3, 2001: The following piece of info is from www.wrestlingdotcom.com
Shane McMahon has been encouraged to start acting more like his father during promos as of late, using many of his signature 'tones' and 'phrases', to set him up for the inevitable 'passing of the torch' which is rumored to be not far away. While many feel that Shane's promos are very good, that he is not at the same level as his father, and needs to mold himself more into the 'evil owner' character to establish himself further.
August 30, 2001: From www.wrestlingdotcom.com :
Shane McMahon
doesnt have as much input on the booking committee as
Stephanie McMahon, but is often involved with molding the
creative scripts into more usuable on air situations.
However, sometimes Shane gets a little crazy, as evidenced by his
idea for the Tag Team Title Cage match at Summerslam. Shane
actually suggested that DDP take the Last Ride from the
Undertaker from atop the cage! Obviously this was shot down by
WWF officials.
