Shane McMahon News for August, 2000

-August 28, 2000:  Wow.  Shane is something else, isn't he?  Well, there are a lot of rumors about how high Shane actually fell, his condition, and so on.  All believe Shane took such a beating to help get Steve Blackman over, who Shane has been very high on for quite some time now.

Some believe that Shane only fell 30-40 feet, others say 50, and more say 75.  All I know is it was really high!

As for Shane's current condition, I have read that backstage he was walking around just fine and is at 100%.  I have also heard that his back is sore, but other than that he is okay.  Others say he just had the wind knock out of him (I can believe that) and that he was a little dazed.  The outlook basically seems that Shane is okay, which is very good to hear.

As for Steve Blackman, I heard he may have cracked his left elbow when he did the elbow on Shane from where Shane had fallen off, and also that one of Blackman's teeth were chipped when Shane hit him with the sign.

Many sites are reporting that Shane scripted the entire match, and that it was Shane's idea for him to take the big fall.  Apparently Vince was very against it, but tentatively agreed after seeing that Shane would be falling into some padding.

The Internet marks all seem to be very impressed with Shane's fall.  One person described it as "the most brutal bump ever taken in WWF history".

Many believe that very soon we will see the debut of Raven, who will be aligned with Shane and who will feud with Steve Blackman.

Straying away from Summerslam, RajahWWF.com had this to say about Shane and Stephanie McMahon: "Despite being the son and daughter of the owners Shane McMahon and Stephanie McMahon act quite professionally backstage and they do not think that they are better than the wrestlers just because the are related to the owners of the WWF. Both are said to be very caring towards their parents and friends as well as towards each other. Here is how one wrestler described Shane and Steph-'Shane McMahon has always played his real self on TV; the real Stephanie is a cross between her original wholesome character and her current on-air persona.' "

-August 26, 2000: I got my October 2000 issue of "Wrestling Digest" in the mail today, and Shane was listed #6 in the Top Ten WWF Rankings. Wrestling Digest, who was ranked Shane higher than Chris Jericho (#7), Rikishi (#8), Kurt Angle (#9), and Dean Malenko (#10), had this to say about the Boy Wonder:
"Shane is often overlooked as a wrestler, but make no mistake, this guy can work. His cage match against the Rock on "RAW" was one of the best matches of the year to date. Can Shane win a belt without fans sensing nepotism?"

-August 24, 2000: There are quite a few rumors about Shane's hardcore title match with Steve Blackman at Summerslam. Some speculate that Raven, who has been expected on WWF TV for some time, will help Shane out in this match. Of course, helping Shane out might mean making sure     Shane doesn't accidentally retain his title and have to defend it 24/7. ;)
However, according to wrestlingdotcom.com, the original game plan for Summerslam was for Shane to team with the Big Show to face The Undertaker and Kane. But, "now that Big Show is in the minors, (Ohio Valley Wrestling) this match can no longer take place. [At] this past Saturday's house show, the Big Show was complaining of spasms."

-August 18, 2000: The September 2000 "Raw interview" in Raw Magazine was with Kurt Angle.  When talking about how he got into the WWF, Kurt said that he had been approached by Vince McMahon in 1996, but had decided to to sign with the WWF because of a neck injury and because he didn't think sports entertainment was for him.  However, after watching a WWF show he called Shane McMahon and asked if he could try to make the WWF roster.  The rest was history!

-August 18, 2000:  Thanks to wwf_wrasslin_gurl@yahoo.com for this information from iowrestling.com:
Shane McMahon at this time is scheduled to defeat Steve Blackman on Raw for the hardcore title, ensuring a feud between he and Blackman. The reason for this is that Shane is a huge fan of Blackman, and is confident that by feuding with him, then putting him over will put Blackman over big time with the fans. Blackcman's crowd reaction has noteably increased lately.
Well, the announcement of the match between Shane and Blackman puts the Shane vs. The Rock for the title rumors to rest, for now.  Should be interesting to see how this all plays out!

-August 17, 2000:  There are quite a few rumors and such Jenn has rounded up for me in the past few days. Let's take a gander, shall we? ;)
Wrestlingdotcom.com is reporting that the WWF has registered 20,000 new voters since they started their "Smackdown Your Vote" campaign, including the Boy Wonder himself!
Various websites are reporting a return of the Corporation, led by Vince McMahon, late this year. Along with Vince, the new Corporation would include Linda McMahon, Shane McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Edge, Christian, and the Big Show.
A few websites are reporting that Shane McMahon will get a title shot against the Rock on the next Raw!
Perry Saturn is trying to get in good with his bosses at his website. Saturn said in his latest commentary: "Shane McMahon is the most pumped up man in the world he makes everyone around him happy to be here." It's nice to know Shane is such a little ray of sunshine. ;) You can read the rest of Perry's commentary at Perry Saturn.com. Thanks to sgoodrich@softhome.net  for this information!

-August 12, 2000:  First, congratulations to anyone and everyone that got through to Shane on Byte This! Thursday evening.  I heard it was very hard to get through.  I honestly haven't watched it yet, but I have read the transcript and it looked like a pretty good interview; I'll have to watch it soon. :)
You can read a detailed transcript of Shane on Byte This! at top-rope.com.
Our news reporter, Jenny, found this rumor at wrestlingdotcom.com:
Look for Shane's gang to break up a lot sooner than any of us expected. The World Wrestling Federation Officials who put the angle together are beginning to have second thoughts. The reason being, many feel that two great superstars such as Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle should be going at it one on one rather than teaming up. Not many are against this idea, and for this reason, it is very likely that we may see Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle feuding within the next few months.
Jenn found this piece of information:
Vince McMahon is no longer taking his hands on approach to the WWF. While Vince continues to attend all WWF television tapings as he has the final say on most everything that happens.Shane McMahon is taking a larger role in the creative and production part of the company.Vince should appear on television sometime this fall.

-August 6, 2000:  Jenn found this at wrestleboard.com:

How's this for an exclusive? STEVEN REGAL will be in SHANE MCMAHON's group once he arrives on WWF TV. In the past few weeks, Steven Regal, who is currently WWF Memphis' most "over" heel [and current MCW/KAW Champion], has been referring to Shane McMahon plenty on MCW/KAW TV. On this week's TV, Regal [after an attack on Joey Abs], said he'd "...go far on Shane McMahon's money, and he'll be, "...a perfect fit in Shane's group" [once he re-debuts on WWF TV].
