Shane McMahon news for April, 2001

April 28, 2001:  Here is a quick bit of news, from top-rope.com:

- Shane McMahon was interviewed by Big Jim of The Wrestling Forum on WHJJ Talk Radio 920 in Providence, RI today. Shane said a "24 hour wrestling channel would be hard to do but not impossible." He then continued to say that if it were to happen "it would have to be like ESPN's Classic and include some very old footage."

- The entire interview can be heard this Saturday at 6pm.

A rumor, also from top-rope.com, says to look for Mike Awesome, Booker T, or Billy Gunn to interfere in Shane's match with Show at Backlash!

April 22, 2001:  A quick news bit - The following is from the June, 2001 edition of Wrestling Digest:

    Chyna stands by her story

In response to criticisms from her former trainer Walter "Killer" Kowalski and former WCW wrestler and manager Christi "Asya" Wolf, Joanie "Chyna" Laurer said she is still proud of her recently published autobiography.  Kowalski took exception to a portion of Chyna's book, "If They Only Knew," that explains how she was first brought into the WWF.  He claims he introduced her to Shane McMahon, thus opening the WWF's gates, while Chyna credits a talent agent as well as Triple H and Shawn Michaels....

April 18, 2001:  VinceRusso.org recently had a 'net chat with Russo himself.  When Russo was asked if he would work under the Shane McMahon WCW regime, Russo simply said: "I learned one lesson through this rocky road. Vince Russo's next boss will be Vince Russo."  I thought that was interesting!  Make sure to check out SmackDown.  I think we are going to see a little Shane-o!  I'll have Raw pictures up soon! :)

April 16, 2001:  First, I'd like to apologize for my major slacking as of late. I have been quite busy, but hopefully things will be calming down a bit. For those of you who care, I directed a play for my graduation project at school, and things went so well that now the play is going to competition on April 25th. I am very excited. :) By the way, pictures from Wrestlemania and the April 2nd edition of Raw are up, but I haven't written up a summary of those events yet.
Now, on to those every so interesting bits of news and rumors!

Elix Skipper of WCW was recently on "No Holds Barred", a WTBQ radio show. The following bit of transcript is from www.wrestlescoop.com :
"Elix: I know when we had the last show in Panama City, Shane McMahon promised everybody that if they wanted to stay with wrestling, he'd give everybody a fair shot as far as work goes.

SA: Now Elix, when Shane McMahon addressed everybody at the final Nitro, how did he come off? Were things heated at all?

Elix: No not at all. The last show was kind of sad because everybody knew it was the last WCW show but then when Shane came in and started talking to us everybody kind of felt like there's some hope. Now there's some direction and something we can look forward to. Some of the veterans and older guys who have been doing it a long time know that money plays a big part in this game and they know that because they're making so much money that they won't be picked up right away. Some guys don't want to be picked up because they have guaranteed deals for a year or 2 years and they don't want to take that cut and make less money because it's going to take time to build up the company. So some of them are looking at it saying "Why should I lose money, when I can make this money now, and then once my contract is up I can look to get back into wrestling". Thenother guys look at it as in I can lose some money now but once the company gets up and going then I can probably make twice as much. It's like rolling the dice, you never know what's going to happen. "

From www.wrestlingdotcom.com :
"There is a small rumor claiming The Rock's "indefinite suspension" could lead to him debuting in WCW for a one-time only appearance with Shane McMahon to get back into the WWF during the Summer when he is completed the filming of his movie, "Scorpion King." As this would be a good scenerio to bring back The Rock, it is in no way confirmed as of yet."

From www.wrestlingdotcom.com :
"Several sources have just speculated that we could very well see a Shane McMahon/Rob Van Dam take place in the future. If you haven't noticed, Shane McMahon has begun doing Van Dam's "Van Terminator" as one of his moves. RVD has publicly stated on Shane's usage of his Van Terminator but has not commented on if, in the future, if a Shane and RVD feud could take place."

From www.prowrestlingscoops.com :
"Ernest Miller has yet to be signed by the WWF for the new WCW. He is currently taking time off, waiting to be called. Miller recently stated that he thinks Shane McMahon will do great things for the new WCW because he is a player coach."

If you have been to www.WWF.com  lately, you may have saw the latest poll, which asks what the new WCW show should be called. Here are the choices:
WCW Saturday Nitro
WCW Hot Box
WCW Uprising
WCW Late Night Appetite
WCW Hard On Saturday Night
WCW Primal Urge

Ehh...I think I'll go with WCW Hard On. ;)

Be sure to check out www.wrestlemania.com  for some cool video and pictures from Wrestlemania X-Seven, including some from the Shane vs. Vince street fight!

April 7, 2001:  I found some more information about the starting date of WCW on TNN.  According to www.pwtorch.com and the Ross Report, the new *tentative* date is June 9th and that the show where air from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. that same night.  The first WCW PPV is expected to be in September.  If I hear any more about this, I'll be sure to let you all know. :)

April 7, 2001:  According to www.wrestlingdotcom.com , the first WCW taped event with Shane running the show will be May 9th in Trenton, New Jersey.  It will will be showed on TNN on a Saturday night from 10 p.m. to midnight as early as May 12th.  HOWEVER, www.top-rope.com is reporting that that show has been POSTPONED, but no reason has been given why.  In other news,  Edge, Christian, and Rhyno were on Byte This! April 6th, and here is a quick note on what the guys were saying about Shane, according to www.rajahwwf.com :

What about Shane McMahon vs. Vince McMahon? This is something that came to be about father vs. son. The old bull vs. the young bull. The finish with the drop kick to the garbage
can that smashed Vince's face in. He defeated his father! Kevin [Kelly] says that it never ceases to amaze him what Shane McMahon will do. This guy is just incredible. Tom [Prichard] says that he worked out with Shane before the match, and he knows no boundaries.  He doesn't know when to stop. He will go and go and go.

April 6, 2001:  Hey! I apologize for the lack of updates, but it has been an extremely busy week for me. I will try to have all the pictures up (PPV, RAW, and Smackdown) by the end of the weekend. Hopefully by the end of the upcoming week everything will be calming down a bit for me and I can get back into the swing of things! Here are the latest news and rumors:

From www.wrestlingdotcom.com  - a recap of a WWF Axxess show. The following is a question asked to Paul Heyman about the recent purchase of WCW:

Question: What did Paul think of Shane buying WCW?
Paul Heyman: It was the right move for Shane McMahon. If someone is going to compete with Vince, it's going to take the biggest carnivore to knock him down. Who is bigger and meaner than a fellow McMahon? Shane learned at the feet of the master.

www.ultrawrestling.com  is reporting that as early as May 12, a WCW based show will be on TNN from 11pm to 1am, EST. It is said that the WWF and WCW will basically be kept seperate, except for the crossovers of Shane McMahon.

From www.top-rope.com :

Sting is planning on collecting his final check and then retiring from wrestling. However, during the last NITRO of the Turner regime, he reportedly had a meeting with Shane McMahon and was said to be in good spirits.

From www.wrestlingdotcom.com :

Rob Van Dam commented on Shane McMahon using the "Van Terminator" in an audio interview on his website, RobVanDam.com. Here is what he had to say:

Shane McMahon using the Van Terminator-
Rob noted that this is professional wrestling and wrestlers always duplicate each other's maneuvers. He thought McMahon executed the Van Terminator "very well." He accepts the fact that it can no longer be stated that only one man can perform that move. In fact, RVD looks forward to inventing another move that may prove too athletic for his peers. He appreciates the flattery from Shane using the move, but jokingly said he'd have rather received a phone call instead.

A few sites have been posting an interesting post about the McMahon's intentions for WCW. They stat that the WCW tickets for taping say "Shane McMahon presents WCW" which proves that WCW's main purpose is to get over the name Shane McMahon. However, it seems like a good idea because wrestlers come and go, while the owner will always be there and in the spotlight.

April 2, 2001:  Wrestlemania was awesome last night.  That has to be the best PPV I have seen in a long time.  All the matches were awesome.  The Shane/Vince match was awesome, even if it was somewhat predictable.  One quick note:  Shane will be hosting the Raw Party at WWF New York tonight, so be looking out for that!  Have fun watching Raw, and be sure to post any thoughts in the boardroom! :)
