Shane McMahon news for October, November, and December, 2002

12.17.02 - Thank you to Val for this piece of information from wrestlingdotcom.com:

Shane McMahon watched the Angle/Big Show and Triple H/Michaels matches from the corner of the arena. He signed a few autographs and waved to a couple of fans but was really into the matches and the crowd's reactions.

"After the pay-per-view [No Mercy, this past Sunday] was over Shane McMahon walked around talking with fans and stayed there for around twenty minutes. When asked about the ratings slump, Shane said that he's not surprised considering the great TV shows there are in competition but said business will pick up once he'll get back on TV. Our reader suggested giving Angle, Edge, Rey and Benoit a nice raise for their match and Shane said that if they wanted $1 million a month he would go pimp himself to make sure they got it, especially Angle who he said is "the greatest he's ever seen." Shane also talked about Survivor Series saying it will make Bischoff feel back down South, saying any true wrestling fan will remember."

On E!, they aired a Howard Stern show and Stephanie was the guest. When she was asked if Shane was apart of the writing staff, Stephanie replied that he "used to be on the creative team" but now he was taking care more of the "business" aspects. I guess this just confirms what we all have been hearing for a while - that Shane is spending more time in the offices than at the shows! :)

When Shane McMahon is backstage during WWE events, which are usually only pay-per views and the RAW the night after, is said to mainly be used for "putting out fires" when arguments arise between wrestlers, or wrestlers and writers. One example would be when Shane McMahon calmed down X-Pac and Kevin Nash when they had a dispute with writer Brian Gerwertz over a planned storyline. Other than that, many claim Shane has little to no other purpose as far as formal role is concerned.
