June 26, 2000 Radio Interview

Shane McMahon just finished a quick radio interview here in Detroit, on 101.1 WRIF, the local rock station. The station always has WWF wrestlers on with the DJs to hype each PPV. Shane spoke mostly in-character, as a member of the Fac-gime, and hyped up the main event for the most part. Some interesting angles he threw out there to keep the outcome of the match in doubt. Like, the stip about if Rock, Undertaker, or Kane pins a Faction member, they get the belt. Well, he pointed out that if, say, the Undertaker tombstones Shane, is the Rock just going to let him win? He said no, the Rock's ego wouldn't let that happen. He compared it to dropping a million dollars at the end of a hallway. Would you just let your coworker have the money so somebody 'good' gets it? No, you'd stab him in the back for it. That really played up the possible dissension among the number-one contenders. He also mentioned that the King of the Ring winner would have a title shot at stake with Triple H if the champ retained, so there's another wild card in there. He also ran down the rest of the card, quickly mentioning all the participants in the tourney (called Crash Holly a 'Cinderella story'), and then the DJ brought up his 'Giant Killer' nickname. He said, 'Well, I beat the largest athlete in the world. Wouldn't you want to call yourself that?" All in all, an entertaining interview that served its role well.
