Description: Monument 28 is probably a corner fragment of a rectangular throne. The fragment bears a long-lipped serpent head in left profile. The upper lip curves up and back at the distal end. Below the long lip is a bifurcated double scroll incisor with a beaded tooth band to the right. Above the lip is a nose knot with a drilled nostril and a beaded forelock at the upper edge. To the right of the lip is a cheekplate above which is an eye slit. Above the eye slit is a lozenge shaped supraorbital plate. Other elements were present inside the mouth, but they are too fragmentary to identify.
Remarks: Monument 28 is probably the left front, or right rear, corner of a rectangular throne or "table top altar" with serpent heads carved in low relief on the edges. Such thrones are commonly found at Early Maya and Maya influenced sites in the Pacific Piedmont and Highlands of Guatemala.
