MONUMENT 18.

Location: Monument 18 was found by a local inhabitant, Simon Palma, in 1942 and was placed in the site museum at its dedication in 1975.

Associations: None recorded.

Condition: Missing head and most of tenon.

Material: This monument was found subsequent to Williams' work. However, there is nothing about it to suggest that its material is any different than that of Monument 1.

Dimensions: Height 37 cm, Height at tenon 26 cm, Width at shoulders 54 cm, Width at tenon 39 cm, Depth 51 cm, Depth at Tenon 15.

Description: Monument 18 is a horizontal tenon sculpture in the form of a prostrate human figure with the arms doubled at its sides and its hands against its chest. The hands are depicted as mittens without indications of fingers. The head has been broken off at the neck, but the face probably looked upward. The arms are defined by flowing lines and modeled forms. The figure wears a collar and paired wristbands.
