Location: Monument 2 was discovered by Stirling during the 1938-39 field season "close to the arroyo on an artificially elevated area [Structure 46] lying to the east of the Burnt Mounds" (Stirling 1943:17). Monument 2 is presently half buried in the earthen floor of the same private house on the outskirts of Tres Zapotes where Stela E is in use as a stepping stone.

Condition: The upper edge broken away on all four sides.

Material: This monument was not tested by Williams. However, there is nothing about it to suggest that its material is any different than that of Monument 1.

Description: Monument 2 is a plain rectangular stone box with flaring sides.
Remarks: This sculpture may have been carved to fit Monument 3, an elaborately carved rectangular stone box with flaring sides.
