Building of Treasures Part II
The stars come out at night

The door closed behind me. What light the doorway let in was now gone. I was there in complete darkness. I tried to find the door but to no avail. I tried to feel my way around but there was nothing. What I mean is,  there was nothing, nothing at all. I stretched out my arms to feel around with my hands, nothing. I crouched down to touch the floor, nothing. How strange, I thought. How can this be? I know I am in a room somewhere. I walked in here through a door. I tried to recall the events before entering the room but I couldn't remember anything. I started to get scared. What am I doing here? How am I to get out? What is going to happen to me? Am I here forever, trapped within this, this perpetual room of darkness. If only there was some light. At that instant the most brilliant white light blinded me. I screamed a horrid scream like a frighten girl being chased by a madman. I closed my eyes but the light still came through as brilliant as when they were opened. I screamed and I screamed again. It took some time for me to realize that hey, I'm ok. I do not feel any pain. It is just, it is just the light is too bright. Maybe I am too close to it and have to move away. I stretched out my hands and tried to feel around. Here I go again, I thought. What am I doing? I know there is nothing here. I tried to run but no matter what I did this light surrounded me. This light that filled the entire room or space or whatever I was in. If only there was a place far enough away from the light so that I could see what was going on. At that instant the light began to move into a circular shape that distanced itself from me. It appeared to be in the center of everything, everything if darkness is everything. I moved around and where ever I moved it stayed there, there in the center, always in the center. Now I was totally perplexed. What in Sam Hill is going on here? I had to stop and think about everything that happened so far. First I came into this room. It was totally dark, too dark. Then it got bright, too bright. Now I see a ball of light in the middle of darkness. How did this happen. Dark, light, and then just right. Hey that rhymes. Dark, light, and then just right. I laughed and I started to feel better. What made this happen? I don't know. I am here in this place that seems so empty. There is nothing here but light and dark. If only there was something to stand on. Some earth, some ground, some dirt. At that instant I found myself standing on a remote piece of land, completely barren and gray. Shocked and amazed I looked all around me. I'm standing on the moon, I thought. The light was above me now. Shining like the sun without a sky. I bent down and grabbed a handful of dirt. It was like powder and seeped through my fingers. This land is so desolate, so barren, and so dry. If only there was some rain it could make this place seem alive. At that instant water fell from the darkness. I stood there in the rain laughing and crying at the same time. I got it now, I shouted. I understand. I understand what I am to do.

"There it is. There it is, Mark." shouted Professor Carlson. Mark looked doubtfully into the observatory lens. "There's no question about it Professor. You've found one, a new star. What are you going to name it sir?" Professor Carlson looked about the observatory from where he was sitting. Next to him was the daily newspaper. He opened it to no particular page. He then glanced down and saw the Obituaries. He closed his eyes and placed his finger on the page.
